2019 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Revealed

Sure the mule may be slightly scratched up and the wheel wells are sporting foam inserts, but these are the first spy shots of the new 2019 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4.

Spy photographers snapped shots of it performing test laps around the Nurburgring and CarScoops has the exclusives to them. Porsche may decide to outright replace the GT4 or the beefier 718 Cayman could receive a GT4 RS badge.

Either way, enthusiasts will be happy to hear that the Cayman GT4 could be getting a naturally aspirated, 4.0-liter six-cylinder engine that’s already being used in the 911 GT3. Of course the engine will be detuned so it won’t directly compete with the 911, but we can still expect it to have more than 385 horsepower on tap, which is more than the previous GT4 model. Tuners will also have a bit of room to work with as the 911 GT3 is capable of cranking out 500 hp and 339 lb-ft of torque.

Paired with the new engine should be a six-speed manual gearbox, with an optional PDK dual-clutch transmission upgrade.

The shoddy exhaust fit on display in the spy shots is an indicator for a new engine and the mule was probably testing its new suspension system on the track. Now we just have to wait for an official press release from Porsche.

I was waiting for this to happen. We all knew it was coming, and now I am ridiculously excited to see how this turns out! Next we need a video of how this beast sounds going around that track.

It amazes me how much speculation and conclusions are being drawn in many magazines and forums from a single short, not very explicit quote from Porsche. <“Natural aspiration is one of our main selling propositions,” Preuninger (GT development) said.>

Whenever I asked my grandmother what was for dessert, she always replied "Wait-and-See Pudding".

That'll happen every time any manufacturer puts something out lol. Manufacturers are now releasing just silhouettes of new upcoming vehicles as teasers and people go bananas with speculation on it haha

Probably the best news and the only news people should care about with the GT4 is the fact we're still getting the engine we all love. There were lots of concerns around them dropping it. This might go on till a high performance hybrid is ready to hit the market. Some 918 DNA
