New Boxter-S Order

Went in to the dealership for an innocent test-drive, left with an order! Looking for guidance from 718 owners regarding some of the options:

RADIO: I went with the Bose...does anyone find this too weak with the top down? The Burmester looks tempting but costly.

2-Way Seats: I chose the sport-tex upholstery. Therefore, it would be an additional ~$5K for the 18-way seats. Any "buyer's remorse" re: the 2-way+ seats? The manual pump seems awfully cheap for such an expensive car

NAVIGATION: am I missing something--why would anyone get the navigation option if they have a smartphone and get the Porsche Connect option?

THANKS! They next two months will move very slowly waiting for the car....

I found the Bose adequate. I've heard the Burmester and it's awesome, but out of my budget.

The two way seats are not for me. I need more adjustments to be comfortable. Also you get memory function and electric steering wheel adjust with the 14 and 18 way as well.

I made the mistake getting the Nav without Connect+ in my Macan. It's completely useless to me because you have no traffic info without Connect+. So realistically the Porsche Nav is a $3K option to make it work like a $300 Garmin. This time I'm smarter and just get Connect. You need an iPhone though. No Android Auto yet as far as I know.

Congratulations on your order! IMHO the Bose is just fine. The car I tested had Bose and it sounded more than adequate--but like trusted noted the Burmester is expensive and out of my budget as well. I have had the 2 way+ seats in my 911 and thought they worked great--I liked having the slider. Also, for me I thought about what I would be using the car for and having the 2-way seats for weekend and part-time driving seems an ok choice for me.

I have connect and Carplay in my Macan and love it--no need to get Porsche navigation. The Apple Carplay works much better and is easier to use. Sounds like you have an April delivery as well? Also patiently waiting ha ha. What are some of the other details of your build--color/interior--other options etc.?

Welcome and congratulations!

Sounds like a comedy routine. "Did you hear the one about this guy that walks into a Porsche dealership..."

My car was a transfer from an out of state dealer, however, it had the options i wanted (well mostly). I have a Cayman and I'm quite satisfied with the Bose. The sound and adjustability is very good for a sports car.

My car has 14way with memory and I'm quite satisfied. I think midline adjustability is a decent compromise. I also like the 2 memory settings even though I'm the only driver.

Why navigation??? I like having extras, and prefer having NAV integrated in the center stack. I also don't want to install a phone mount, having connection cables dangling, or having the phone sliding around and being a distraction. My car also has Connect +.

It will be a painful wait, but well worth it!

Congrats on your order!!

I love the BOSE and it's more than adequate.

Hated the 2 way...didn't like the 18...14 was perfect

As for GPS?...good luck when you lose phone signal!! happens to me FAR too often.

I have it, I like it, and I don't regret getting it.

Jeep/Chrysler/Dodge has started to use Beats and they are horrible speakers, even their headphones are horrible. One more reason for us to be thankful for bose, a brand that has long proved itself in the industry.

I just hope that Porsche won't take on Bose, usually the German car makers know better.

I wanted the 14 way, but the one that we found that matched what I was looking for had the 2 way manual. I think its perfect. I'm 6'2", 200lbs. I have a great seating position, and feel the extra stuff is just a waste. How often do you adjust your seat??? Once it's in place, why change it? I had a Lotus Elise about 10 years ago with 1 way adjustment. Froward and back, thats all you had. That was all I needed. Bose is good. AT first I thought it sucked. At the default settings it really seems to be weighted towards the front, making it seem like there are no rear speakers. Fader adjustment took care of that. Definitely need to add some bass and treble in settings and now it sounds decent.

Call me a Luddite... or just someone that grew up in the 80's, when an Alpine Deck was considered the epitome of car stereos and SAT/Nav didn't exist. There's comfort, there's tech advancement, and then there's just weird.

Nowadays, I'm just happy to have a CD player. And my phone has navigation; not integrated into my car... but, the thought of paying $3K for a feature that I already have in my pocket seems ludicrous. As often as people are buying the NAV system, I'm wondering if I'm just the only guy in America that doesn't get completely lost all the time when I'm driving. And even on the rare occasion that I have been, I wasn't $3,000 worth of "lost'.

Also, I'm with Outsider on the seats. I basically adjust my seats once: the day I buy it. If 2-ways get me comfortable, I don't need 18 other settings (+ 3way memory). Give me a bit of lower back, the standard recline angle, and front-back - good enough. It's a sports car, not a visit to the chiropractor.

Outsider and thorn--I am with both of you on the seats. I am getting the 2-way seats and they will be just fine. I had two way sport seats in my 911 and once I set them that was it--didn't need to keep resetting them--they were just right. I was once $3,000 "lost" in Vegas--but that's another story. I am getting connect and currently have Carplay in my Macan--for the most part I like it better than Porsche Nav.
