Two caveats to start. First, I am a life-long truck and SUV owner. Second, I am aged/retired. My review probably doesn't mean much to previous Porsche owners who have experienced all of this, but I hope those lurking with a similar background will benefit. Here goes. I want to thank all former and current contributors to this forum over the past several years because none of the nuances I've experienced in this car have been a surprise or cause for alarm/concern. It's nice to know what to expect! As you might imagine, my base car exceeds anything I have owned in the past even though I have not been able to surpass 4K rpm. I'll put another couple hundred on tomorrow and inching closer to the "go at it" benchmark. Once I reach that milestone, I'm sure that will reveal a totally different car and I can't wait!

Only a few minor things that I would change if I were king.

1: I'd lose the pimple on the roof - it really takes away from the overall appearance.

2: Not really sure what to make of the felt on the under carriage. Seems like a dirt magnet and no one sees it (sound proofing?).

3. The analog speedo is useless and a waste of space - I never look over there.
4. PDK normal mode is not really useful except on high speed highways/interstates, etc. It really bogs down around town. Sport mode most of the time!

I may find a few more things that I don't care for, but I doubt it.

Otherwise, this car is as good as I expected and more.

Enjoy your cars, I am!

Ha! I don't really notice the roof wart! That being said I like having Sirius radio... nice to not lose channels on long rides.

But a 'felt' undercarriage????? What??

I figured it was some sort of antenna. It might also have an effect on the airflow. It really doesn't bother me at all.

Like the stuff above the wheels? I think a lot of higher-end cars have lining under the fenders. Just that's just a guess.

But just think how impressive it is to cover 175mph in 175 degrees of needle swing! The rest of the dash is quite nice. And who looks over there anyway?:)

Non-sport mode does make it upshift pretty early. But that's what sport mode is for! On the highway non-sport mode does work well.

The point is, I agree with your assessment, but I don't necessarily agree with it. If you take my meanin'.

During your break-in time you will naturally drive in a moderate fashion. The PDK "learns" your driving style and shifts accordingly.

After you break the car in, you are likely to drive more aggressively, at which point, the PDK will relearn and adjust shift points (to higher RPM points). But it will depend on your driving style.

I drive moderately on the street most of the time so my PDK tends to shift early. But I am also a racer, so if I am "in the mood" or at a track day, I will use the Sport button.

I agree about the wart on the roof. My new GMC cargo van has a similar one and it even looks bad on that thing.

Yes, the analog speedo is a poor design. When I picked my car up at the Atlanta PEC, even they told me I would never look at it.

I can't figure out what you mean by felt on the undercarriage?

I absolutely hate the roof wart. Porsche should give people the choice of opting in or out of the roof decoration.
Somewhat unobservant, but I'd never previously noticed that US Caymans had a wart problem. Satellite radio isn't something U.K cars are offered with, either as standard or as an option & as a result they are entirely wart free.

WRT the roof wart, is it solely for satellite radio or does it also function as the antenna for GPS? In another thread someone said that there are no holes beneath the wart allowing a relatively clean path for removal, i.e. it is glued on.

All I can tell you is that U.K cars don't have the wart, but do come standard with GPS, Vehicle tracking & both FM & Digital radio.

That answers my question. Thanks, Chilli. I don't like satellite radio and will never use it so I could remove the "wart". However I don't really find it that objectionable and removing it may have a deleterious effect on any future sale since it renders the installed satellite radio non-functional.

I am checking with my SA to see if the tumor can be safely removed. If it can be excised I will submit it for microscopic interpretation to assure it is benign.;)
