I have a Boxster on order with standard 2-way seats. Has anyone ordered these and then felt they needed the 14-way seats for better lumbar support?

All the inventory cars at the dealer have 14-way, and they are nice, but I'm not sure I need to spend the money for that option and I don't care about the memory feature.

Opinions? Better resale value with 14-way?

Thanks

As one data point, as far as resale, I just bought a 2017 718 and wouldn’t consider one with the 2 way seats. I must have good lumbar support! I lucked out and found one with the 18 ways, which I love!!

They are expensive options, especially when the car already comes with seats.

First the model I got had 14 way. (just happened to...but not sure I needed it)

But tried the 2 way and they are just fine!!
My thoughts are if you road trip a lot - hwy driving etc. Go for the 14 way to get Lumbar.

Otherwise save the cash. The 2 way are still pretty incredible.

My 08 CS and Cayman R were 2 way. My 2014 981 and 2016 981 are 14way. I am configuring a 2019 now and will get the 14way. For me, having the ability to have memory for seat, mirror and steering wheel positions for two different drivers is worth it. My wife is a fairly frquent driver of my Caymans which means she and I do not have to fiddle each time to get the settings just right. Is it worth the money? Value is in the eyes of the beholder. It is for me..................as value add, I do like getting the lumbar adjusted to my specific liking is also a nice feature. 14way vs 18way......the additional features did make it worth it, again, my specific needs.

I have 2 way sport plus seats.

They are amazing and I have no need for 18 way adjustment.
I have the same. The sports plus are a huge step up from the base seats.

I haven't tried the 18 way seats, so can't definitively say, but I don't see them being that much better than the sport plus seats.

Another thing to consider is that the 2-way seats drop marginally lower than the 14- or 18-way seats at their lowest position, and I have been told (but have not confirmed personally) that the opposite is true - that the 14- & 18-way seats are higher in their highest setting than the 2-way seats.

Moreover, in addition to the lack of lumbar support, you cannot independently raise the front & rear of the seat bottom with the 2-way seats but you can with the 14- & 18-way seats. Since I simply drop the seats as low as they will go, I bought the 2-way seats. However, if you like to sit higher you might find difficulty getting proper thigh support with the 2-way seats as the mechanism seems to raise the rear more than the front as it goes through its stroke. Obviously that is not an issue with the other seat options.

As for sport vs sport plus, sit in both and see what you like better - it's totally personal preference. I liked them both, but my wife HATED the sports plus seats, so that saved me $600;)

The 18-ways may be a challenge for those of us who are on the bigger side. I can hope that I will shrink over my time owning the car, but I also wanna be comfortable day one. :)
i am 6'1" and 240. the 18 way seats work just fine. i went with them for the adjustable bolsters for the track as porsche did not offer any seats for the 718 that had pass thrus for harnesses.

Sit in all of the seat types for at least 10 min (2-way, 2-way sports plus, 14-way, 18 sports plus). Some ppl need extra lumbar support, some don't. I have wide shoulders, so the way the 18 ways flare out toward the top fit me much, much better than the base upper seat. I'm 5'10", 205 lbs.

I'm 5'11" and 295, if you wanna get explicit. I'm fat. The bottom and side bolsters of the 18-ways are uncomfortable for me.

Well, I skipped the non-power seats but I did the 18-ways vs the 14-ways. The 18's were too aggressive down south for me. The 14s were much more comfy. And I'm not planning on doing a bunch of track excursions. Maybe 1 or 2.
