Just rolled past 2 years of ownership-delivered 2 March at PECATL. Only 9000 miles but time-dictated interval. At same time needed recall for intake screens (no parts for the fuel line recall yet). After all said and done-$935!! (I do miss BMW’s free maintenance...). Included oil, brake fluid service, both filters (cabin and engine), and the usual “inspections”. I love the inclusion of the line item: “free loaner-a $100 value...” on the invoice. The inspections noted rear tires at 5/32 remaining. They offered to give me a price on tires-boy did they. Only N-spec tires in 18” currently are Dunlop, Pirelli and Goodyear-no Michelin yet. They gave me the estimate sheet and tire prices are what I’d expect from dealer: $210-$250 depending on brand and F/R and then there was the install-$225 per tire!!-Holy bat$#*&!! I politely said “thank you” and “have a nice day”...

On a related note. They gave me a 2019 Cayenne for a loaner. I am not a fan of the new info/console set-up. All former buttons on either side of shifter are now touch (under a smoked smooth screen) and apparently are “haptic” as they are not visible until your finger is close or touching. So you must take your eyes off the road to see what you are activating/de-activating, etc. I suppose it is more upscale than have a row of blanks if you don’t get all the toys, but a bit confusing. And then the shifter is shades of Jeep/BMW, etc. Very un-intuitive. Someone is going to have a new Porsche roll away or over them when they get out and don’t realize it is not in park.

Here’s a money saving way for the set maintenance by mileage. In your case, just order the oil change, brake fluid change, and both filters. I bet it will $300 less because of the cost for “checks”. One of these checks is to confirm the horn is working - yes I read it in the manual.

Pricing for tires seems fair.. but the install is robbery. Just got a brand new S and have some concerns about the dealer screwing.

My dealer orders tires from TireRack. They said I can do it myself if they want. They charge the same as the TireRack install price too.

And at 5600 miles my rears are DONE. WTF. I'm on the 19s and I'm getting the PS 4S. They are not "approved". I am not worried.

$225 install per tire? Did I read that right.

I use Costco. $15/ corner. Won’t let them take wheels off Porsche. I dismount and take the wheels/tires and new tires in our Odyssey van. Used them for multiple cars with zero issues. Local Porsche dealer used to charge $50/ tire but not sure how much it is now.

The price for the service seems about right based on my experience. It can vary up or down depending on your location.

The price for installing the tires seems really high. My dealership charges about $250 for all 4 tires. Are you sure the $225 wasn't for all four tires?

I've also been to other places (noon-dealerships) to ask about having tires changed, and they have all said they can't guarantee the wheels won't be scratched when they change the tires. So even if the dealership is more expensive, they've never scratched the wheels. That is worth it for me.

My 20k service is Monday. I'm glad I called ahead to remind myself of the price.
I haven't skimped on the service yet with either of my Porsches but I might take some of Optical TDI's advice after I'm out of warranty.

While no place may want to guarantee it, they can pay attention and minimize it -- and if a place regularly services expensive, enthusiast-owned cars and is in a market with other such places, it pays attention. Not scratching wheels during dismounting/mounting is simply a matter of proper tools and proper procedure.

I have an indie Porsche specialist do my tires, which I get from Tire Rack. Cost is $35 per tire. This place also services most non-Italian luxury cars, including vintage and show cars. It's not going to scratch my wheels. (It will leave on wheel-weight adhesive, though, unless it's requested to be removed. Ask me how I know, LOL).

For those of you who may have thought I was smoking something when mentioned the dealer tire quote:
$1399.60 for a mount and balance? These guys have lost their mind /forum/images/718forum/smilies/tango_face_surprise.png
Agreed. But some ppl may just pay it without noticing anything but the total cost of 4 tires. I would tell this place what I thought of them (after confirming there’s no mistake) and then never go back to those crooks.

My first oil chance here in NJ was "free" (car was at a year and had 7500 miles). I also got the "anti-cigar grill screens installed but that's a recall.

But the next one (Dec-2019) will require oil and filter change plus brake fluid flush. Dealer quoted me at $935 USD (and this one would not be "free").

The folks at my local Porsche Club have a list on trusted independents. One of the guys told me I can get all of this done for about $350 .

As long as I show receipts from a legitimate repair facility, Porsche would still have to honor it in terms of warrantee fulfillment. That's true in NJ but I don't know about other areas.

My 18" Goodyears are still fine at almost 8000 miles.

Gentlemen, gentlemen, gentlemen.......these are high end sports cars and if you want the boutique niceties Porsche offers than we have to pay the piper. I own and have owned Hondas for for 35 years and great pricing on the service side but each of us with our Porsches are seeking something more thrilling and it comes at a price, albeit a high one.

Not quite. $350 per wheel for a mount and balance is abject, Pentagon-level highway robbery. That goes even beyond 'boutique' or 'high-end' because for that price, I'd expect an overnight stay at a Ritz-Carlton and a mani-pedi while I waited.

Think of it this way: Converting that quote to labor at $200/hr (the general 'going rate' for luxury dealership techs these days), changing the tires on a 718 is purportedly a seven-hour job. Riiiight.

Yep that's absolutely ridiculous no matter what the car. The time before last a 20 inch rear N rated Pirelli P Zero cost me around the £280 mark ($365 U.S) supplied balanced & fitted. Last time was around £246 ($321 U.S). The reason it was cheaper second time is they took pity on me as the previous tyre had only just been fitted after a puncture & the new one then incurred another puncture after picking up a nail. So I had two punctures in a few days & on the same rear left tyre. All supply & fitment done at my nearest OPC. They do always look after me on price but even so you'd have to be an absolute mug to pay the prices quoted to Grozk17.
