If it's true that the 2019 model year 718's will have an auto stop/start "feature" that remembers the last setting on shutoff, do you think it will be something Porsche can swap out on earlier 718 versions?

I know there is an aftermarket product that will do that but I would rather wait and have Porsche do it if it's going to be possible.

The statement in the 2019 configurator reads -
"Auto Start Stop function (retains last selected setting after vehicle restart)"
This is a bit ambiguous; I don't read that to mean it remembers the last setting on shutoff. Frankly, I'm not sure what it does mean? My understanding is that the original function was implemented to satisfy EU emissions requirements and if so, it's not likely to have changed.

The on-line specs for my 2018 Cayman had the same language. However, that feature did not survive the trip across the Atlantic for any version of the 982. So I am skeptical that the 2019 982 (at least in the US) would somehow go back to less fuel efficient setting of allowing the car to retain the last auto start-stop setting.

Strange :

Has anyone looked in their settings in guage cluster (menu)....I have an Auto Stop feature that was checked...I simply un-checked - but don't see any difference. What is this for????

PS - this is on a 2018 Cayman S.

I do not have a menu option like that. My SA said that on some models you can assign the on/off function to the diamond key on the optional steering wheel, but since I don't have either PDK or Sport Chrono, I cannot do that. Is that what you are talking about?

The memory module from T-Design will remember the last settings for auto start/stop, PSE, Sport and Sport+. Super easy to install and easily reversible. However, it does not remember sport settings if you have the steering wheel knob (Sports Chrono package). It does work on MY2018, don't know about MY2019, you should contact the vendor to be sure.

A bit pricey, but what isn't for this brand. You can get it here: Memory Module for sport button and auto start stop for Porsche 911, 991, 981, 718, 958, Boxster, Cayman, Cayenne
