Hello everyone. Words are not enough to explain how thrilled I am to be a new member to your forum and a future member of the Porsche family! Future you ask....placed my deposit last week for my factory order GT4! My SA and I put together a preliminary spec sheet. Guaranteed an allocation. I've been a fan of the the mid engine layout of the Cayman and the Cayman in general for many years. The 718 series is no exception. I was all set to purchase the wonderful GTS but my heart belongs to the GT4. Whether it's the 3.8 or 4.0, I believe this second generation, NA GT4 will be phenomenal! My color of choice...Lava Orange! Cheers to all members of the Cayman/Boxster family!

Congratulations man.....don’t want to sound greedy but a GT4 would be a cool car.

Your dealership already has allocations for a 2019 GT4? It’s not on the configurator yet.
Not only are there no allocations out yet, it's not even certain that there will be a GT4 released in '19 at all. Aside from the fact that no one knows which engine...so yeah...good luck!

Here I go again...still not sure where my initial reply ended up....my apologies. It went something like this. Wow guys....no leg pulling here! I'm aware there are no allocations for the GT4, officially, yet, and I'm well aware there is no configurater, hence my "preliminary" spec sheet. There will always be certain options to check off, such as manual transmission(presumably), deviated stitching in lava orange, fire extinguisher, etc., etc. The dealership claims to have a good idea of how many factory order allocations they'll get, based on their sales history. I placed a nice deposit to get in early on the list. The dealer claims I'm guaranteed an allocation slot. I didn't mind putting an early deposit down and I do not mind the wait. I can almost guarantee a mad rush once an official announcement is made. I can also guarantee you the GT4 will be produced in 2019, even if it's considered a 2020, based on Porsche model cycle history. It should be produced for one model year.

I am confident they will produce a 2019 GT4 and I know you will love the car. There was some discussion about producing a GT4-RS but I guess we will have to wait and see. Although, I did place my name on the GT4 list at several Porsche dealerships that was before I got the GT3 allocation........
Enjoy your car and in my mind it's not if you get a GT4 but when; best of luck!

Thanks. Appreciate the kind comments. Your wait should be much shorter! Enjoy your GT3 likewise!
One thing Porkey, there will always be detractors but you still have to rock on! In essence, that is what the 718 forum is all about.......many of us were on the receiving end of so much negativity about the 718's from members of Rennlist and Planet-9 that this forum was a place we can be excited about our cars. My hope is that we can, in-spite of all our enthusiasm and strong opinions, continue make this forum a welcoming place.

Sad but so true. I can appreciate the 911. It is a wonderful sports car and will , understandably, remain Porsches iconic offering. However, I love the Cayman. Size, form, performance....a true mid engine sports car. As much as I can admire the other "great" sports cars out there, it's amazing how others cannot, either out of ignorance or denial. I feel Porsche still manufactures one of the finest, if not the finest sports cars/performance vehicles (read suvs!), in the world. But I also truly believe, that the Cayman/Boxster series, including the current 718 series are perhaps one of the finest all around sports cars in the world, regardless of price, marque etc. Poor man's Porsche?....any detractors should wish to be so "impoverished"...
