So I have a beef.

3 Porsche Apps on my Phone:
- Title: Good to Know - Like manual for your car
- Title: Connect - Send Maps destinations to your PCM from your phone
- Title: Car Connect - Not to be confused with the above - GasGuage / Maintenance / Where's my P Car / Speed Fence (for those teen drivers - right - LOL) / Geo Fence - nice don't want your car leaving the city? / Remote Unlock - Lock / Tire Pressure

Then took the Car into to get "Connected" for the first free year of Extras - Gas Prices / Wireless Map Updates on your own / Flight Info / Sync with Calendar / News / Local Events ----the list goes on.

But signing up all this was a nightmare.

ADVICE to PORSCHE - 1 APP - just grey out areas people didn't but say the connect plus features for etc. I hate 3 apps.

The Connect vs Car Connect thing annoys. Especially since one of them is updated for iPhone X and the other isn't. And it's like "Hey, you guys, the iPhone X isn't exactly new anymore."

Good to Know as a separate app isn't too bad. It's a decent app, but I really feel like the videos should have audio.

Agree 100% with the OP....the registration process is plan confusing and the apps are of various quality too...ironically the most recently updated is the best looking and has the least functionality. the useful one barely seems to have been updated since the iPhone5!

As we are the subject of Porsche Apps, 2x questions I've been meaning to ask...

1) I have a Cayman 718 on the Porsche 'Car Connect' app I only seem to be able to check the lock status of the car ie I can't lock/unlock the doors? is this right?

2) I'm due a trip to the Nurburgring...disapointed to find that the 'Porsche Track Precision' app only seems to be usable on 911 GT cars, has anyone been able to configure it for other vehicle types?

Yeah, Good to Know is nice. It's also rather large (I think it's the fourth-largest app on my iPhone, including games) ...

But @rvacs, think about it: No car manufacturer I know of combines its mobile Owners Manual (which is what Good to Know is) and remote functionality. The app would simply be too big. The idea is to encourage customers to use only what they need, not remind them of what they didn't pony up for. What you suggest isn't good marketing, isn't good practice to encourage use, and isn't mobile device-friendly, among other reasons.

The other two are exceedingly confusing to figure out at first because there's no guide that exists that says which one goes with which Porsche Connect level of service. So ... :

Car Connect app = Porsche Connect
Connect app = Porsche Connect Plus

But once all of the above is done and set up, the Connect app works well. (Can't speak for the Car Connect app.)

Another app to get is the Christophorus app, a recent launch as a companion to the magazine. It's quite slick and includes stuff not in the print mag such as video content, extra interview footage and images, etc.

The Delivery app has me cranked off. I deleted it and re-installed it but now it's completely broken. It doesn't download the bundle (though it says it does) and then it hangs on installing the bundle (that it didn't download). :(

for track events i use harry's lap timer, petrolhead edition. great video with overlays and has worked flawlessly at every track i have used it. doesn't even need a cellular connection, it uses GPS.

It is advertised as being available if you have the Sport Chrono Package.

The Sport Chrono Package now also includes the Porsche Track Precision App. This enables you to clock lap times and collate driving stats, record and manage the results on your smartphone and share them with other drivers for comparison. The app makes use of GPS and highprecision data from the on-board computer, and helps you to better your driving performance. Graphical and video analyses display every millisecond of your potential for improvement. Lap after lap.
