So I have finally bitten the bullet and have purchased a SIM card to go into the PCM. The hassle of not being able to connect the phone and allow the PCM to use bluetooth to get the data left me baffled.

It all registered as planned but now I only have 3G reception? There are no PCM settings to limit the card to 3G so why isn't it picking up the LTE (4G) signal?

The card is a 4G card and I have tested it in a 4G router. There is 2 bars of 4G reception where the car is parked. I drove around 300 miles and at no stage did it pick up 4G.

What am I missing?

@Calimerus - when connecting your phone, are you connecting it via Bluetooth? It is when inserting a separate SIM into the middle slot of the PCM when it all goes wrong.
Yes i normally connect the phone via Bluetooth, to listen to music or make phone calls. Of course in this case It's my own phone 4G, so obviously works.

For the car internet (apps, online search, google maps, traffic...) I use the integrated SIM of the car, that is always on and works always on 4G. (so I suppose the car has a good antenna to pic up the signal and that should not be your problem)

Just to make I try, I also tried to turn off the integrated sim and force the car to use the wifi hotspot connection from my mobile and it also worked perfectly and in 4G.

I never tried your setup, but from what I see, it should be strange that 4G would not work if you put in your sim...

It sounds it's that sim problem. Have you tried a different one from a different provider?

Or you can put your mobile sim in, just to see if something happens...
