I'm seriously considering either a local new 2018 718 GTS (PDK, about 100 miles on it), finding a similar actual new one or a very lightly used 2018/2019 CPO. It would be my daily driver. I typically drive to the airport for work trips and then some around town trips, but I work from home and normally don't put more than 8-9K/year on a car. I'm in Cincinnati so it does get cold, some snow and ice. I have access to a family suburban or Camry, but I'd need to make sure I can drive it in the winter so I'm expecting to get 4 snow tires and wheels for it.

What else am I missing? What type of normal maintenance items can I expect?

ballpark:

Maintenance same as any other car....just maybe more expensive. Depends on what you owned in the past. Figure the maintenance cost will scale with the MSRP of the car. e.g. oil change at dealer $300-+. at an independent, $150.

Look at the Porsche prepaid maintenance plan and that will give you an idea of what dealer service will cost. Figure if you go to an independent guy then maybe you can save 30-50%.

You can price up snow tires and rims on Tirerack.com

Haha! Keep it as long as it's under warrantee- then you just pay expensive maintenance. After that if things go break out check book!

I actually think C&D and Road & Track just did a long term (4 year?) cost article. I'll see if I can find it.

Here's one... not sure where data comes from or how accurate it is.

I read somewhere that the cost of ownership is one of the highest for this particular car. Depending on your driving style, plan on tire replacement every 10-15K with performance summer rubber since asymmetric tires prevent rotation and they wear quickly. Mid-engine placement make DIY oil changes, etc, more difficult (although it can be done per threads contained herein), and its a Porsche, so routine maintenance items cost more than a Honda. The cost for each recommended 10K mile maintenance interval increases in price according to the required work to be done, although I think it plateaus at some point although no one here has reached that threshold that I'm aware of.
