I posted this over at Rennlist but seems to be generating a bit of interest so thought I'd post over here for you guys.

These are TWL style and I suspect they all come from the same factory or mold. There are lots of suppliers and there seems to be 2 different styles. This one is the nicest (closest to OEM) so beware.

I bought mine from https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32893794490.html

They are not the cheapest but they turned out to be 98% perfect and fitment is 95% perfect. You can see Janko Lind's video for fitment. They are slightly not perfectly flush at the top.

For perfect fitment maybe the genuine GT4 ones would be better and cheaper but then you still need to paint them: https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/PK718SCOOP.html

IMO the carbon looks very nice, particularly on GT Silver:

My install procedure was as follows:

They provide double sided tape but it isn't normal double sided tape as you can't pull it off like normal tape. I know Janko Lind used 3m tape but I just used the generic tape they provided. After 2000km or so including high speed runs up to ~ 200km/h and 60km of gravel road by mistake they have not moved. I did consider using a bit of automotive adhesive as well but decided it wasn't necessary.

Even when I pull on the scoop now you can see the body panels flexing rather than the adhesive.

I was also provided two prep swabs which was some chemical to prepare the surface. My procedure was as follows:
  1. Clean all contact surfaces with isopropyl alcohol or methylated spirits.
  2. Use one prep swab to prepare the scoops on all contact surfaces
  3. Apply double sided tape to the scoops, stay 2mm or so from the outside edge as you will see the adhesive (but this can be pushed in later, see step 7). Janko Lind's video is a good guide.
  4. Test position scoops onto car and mark guides on car.
  5. Use second prep swab to prep car, try to not wipe off guides.
  6. Remove backing from double sided tape and apply scoop in exact position as there is no going back!
  7. On those edges where the gap was a little wider, I used a thin vinyl tool (or credit card) to push the adhesive down to ensure contact with the car body.
I did also wrap in PPF as the leading edges are vulnerable to stones, particularly the lower edges, if you are driving on country roads.

I agree matte carbon can look very nice and Techart have a very nice looking matte carbon sport kit on a lava orange 718 S.

You could always wet sand the clear coat to get the matte finish. I have gloss charcoal wheels and interior gloss carbon so I thought the gloss carbon would go better on my car.

Looks very good! Thanks for the write-up.

Would they be easy to remove at a later date without leaving marks on the original paint?
Thanks.

I think removal would be just like removing a badge, use a bit of heat and fishing line. You would then need some gu-remover to get the adhesive off. I don't think it would mark the paint but may need a bit of a polish afterwards.
