Guys,

The 718s now come in Night Blue. I was a big fan of the previous Sapphire Blue since the Night Blue seems very, very close to Black.

Anyone out there with the new Night Blue 718? Thoughts on the color? Pics?

Much appreciated.

My Dad has a night blue Cayenne and it's so close to black that you can't pick out much color unless you have it out on a sunny day. It's not for me, but I'm sure plenty of people like it.

@Ken 718S, love those license plates! Did you get them back in ‘99 in homage to the original 718 race car? Or is your prescience as a Porsche loyalist just that amazing? :D

In any case, I think your license plate requires you to buy a 718 (S model of course!) ASAP!

I have a night blue metallic 2019 S. It’s an amazing color. When it’s dark out it looks almost black. But on a sunny day it’s super looking. I have pics but don’t have a place to post them. Sorry.

Here is a build that is the same color. When the sun is on it it looks much diff.

The dealership down the road from me has a 2019 Boxster in Night Blue. Yes, it is a dark blue, but in any kind of light the “blue“ part of the name becomes readily evident, and the metallic aspect definitely lightens it up as well.

The video here is taken outside on a sunny day, and I think it gives a pretty good idea as to the specifics of this color: https://www.4porsche.com/vehicle-details/new-2019-porsche-718-boxster--highland-park-il-id-29475311

Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot!

Actually I got it a few years ago as soon as I heard about the 718. Just haven’t pulled the trigger yet.

Yeah. I think I will this year. Likely to give my 99 to my son some day. It’s a great car! Plus I live in San Diego. The perfect Boxster city on earth. Sun and twisty roads everywhere.

I have a Night Blue Metallic base -- one of the first 2018 models. Pics of my car are plentiful here, especially in my travelogues the 2017+ Porsche 718 Photos And Videos subforum.

Here's one.
And here's another.

When I was a kid, two of the first Matchbox cars I had were Porsches. I used model paint to paint them both midnight blue -- ergo, my Night Blue Metallic 718 is literally my dream car in my dream color. As other have said, the color looks all but black unless it's lit by direct light. It's stunning.

wow...a stunning car! It literally changes based on the amount and direction of the light.

Personally, I just wish that it was a shade lighter so that the blue was more evident in all lighting situations (only because I am not a fan of black).

I can tell you that I had a '95 M3 in a beautiful dark-medium blue metallic. It showed dirt and swirls just like black. If you're a fastidious hand-car-washer, these colors are lovely, but if, like me, you drive your cars, then put them through the car wash after a long hard driving day, stick with light metallics. Silver, light blue, light green etc. ...or white.

I think Agate grey is the darkest color I'd go with. I love the Aventurine Green of the new 911s and Cobalt Blue...sadly NLA. Miami Blue would be OK for swirling, I think, but it's got to be clean to look good....or very dirty.

Night blue is really the same as black. I love the color but would never buy it.

I didn't see where you live. If it's someplace that doesn't rain or snow much, your car will probably stay clean a lot easier than here, where precipitation of some sort is common.

I love Night Blue and it goes well with some of my favorite Porsche interiors too.

:)

Haha... I love Night Blue Metallic. But I don't have an issue with Black either. But man- the metallic blue looks so amazing on a nice sunny day. Plus women love it!
