Call it what you will, especially you, trusted...my suspicions, or dare I say predictions, for the new GT4 are as follows. It will be called/labeled a GT4. Not a "718 GT4". Regardless of the model, regardless of the difference in engines, it has been and will remain it's own specific version of whatever model cycle it belongs to. It will likely have a detuned version of the 4.0. One engine...not a 3.8 for a "regular GT4" and a higher performance 4.0. I just don't see how that makes any sense to offer both 3.8 and 4.0 flat 6 engines in relatively limited production numbers, etc., etc. With that said, I'm skeptical of any secondary "RS" specific versions, but you never know. Aside from the club sport type offerings, I think there'll be one GT4 offering, with a detuned version of the GT3's 4.0. Next, rumors about the offering of PDK. A bit harder and perhaps more interesting to "attempt" a prediction. If the engine and transmissions are from the GT3, as all indications are pointing, a PDK is feesible, BUT, a PDK equipped GT4 with the GT3 4.0, however detuned, would be blisteringly quick in the Cayman's mid engine set up etc., especially around the "ring". Enter the conspiracy theories. Such a vehicle, I suspect, would do some serious toe stepping on big brothers feet! For that reason, as others have speculated, it may be produced in 3 peddle form only, as was the first version. So, whether rumors, speculation or predictions, we WILL have a new GT4 as a 2019 model. When the time comes, all will be revealed. Until then, one thing is certain. It will be an evolution of the first version, building upon the remarkable 718 chassis and one AMAZING GT division sports car!

How exciting for you! Patiently awaiting mine....oh, since I'm new to the process, is there any way a buyer can get photos of different phases of their cars production, "on the line"?

Funny you said that I just saw a couple of videos by Shmee150 in which he actually watched his Porsche being produced on the assembly line, and the addition of the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur options. I will inquire about that option with my SA. I know you can pick the car up in Germany but don't really want to drive it around without a full PPF (Suntek Ultra my choice). Though, would love to fly over to Germany, and film the Porsche as it's manufactured. I will post my SA's response.

Thanks...I've seen some of shmee150's videos in the past but not this one. Looks like a great experience. The factory/assembly process is amazing. Must have been like watching your GT3 being built! I watched a previous video that featured the leather interior process, dash etc., from shaping, stitching, to installation. Truly a hands on process. Speaking of colors, which did you choose?

Guards Red.....it has to be sufficiently loud, after all it's a sports car;) Spoke with my SA and he said he could not arrange to have me film the car in production but there is a cool option that I will PM you about that I am going with:)

Thanks again...I understand Shmee has some expendable cash...oh, meant to ask you about Suntek Ultra. Just watched their video. Very impressive! Am considering a wrap for my GT4. Any opinions on Expel Ultra? That's who the dealership I'm working with uses/recommends. Some of the benefits they presented, self healing etc., seem similar to Suntek? I hear you about the color. You probably remember that I'm going with Lava Orange.

Suntek Ultra has all the favorable properties of XPEL but lacks the orange peel look as found with XPEL which is less optically clear. I would highly recommend Suntek Ultra so that beautiful Lava Orange can really rock! XPEL just does not have the optical clarity I want. One other word of advice, don’t skimp on an installer.........pay for a reputable, highly qualified person with ample experience. Not to be trite but it really is “you get what you pay for”.

Yes...very true. I was amazed at the optical clarity/clearness as demonstrated on their site. Was unaware of Expel lacking such clarity. Thanks. Will definitely look into Suntek Ultra. Funny you should mention getting what you paid for. The dealer has already offered to protect my car with Expel Ultra at their cost. Sounds enticing enough...but...
