Hey all,

Hope everyone is well and enjoying their cars..!

Yesterday I traded my 981 2.7 manual all black in and ordered a 718 GTS Boxster PDK in Agate grey from Porsche Nottingham here in the UK. I was waiting for the new G29 Z4 to be available for test drives but after the day in a GTS kindly lent to me from the dealer I knew nothing else would come close! I’ve gone a bit mad on spec but if you’re going to do it then....:D

Spec:

Agate grey with Matt black 20” Carrera S wheels
Gloss black front and rear aprons, side intakes and roll over hoops
PDLS lights

18 way seats
GTS interior pack with red stitching
Leather heated steering wheel
Carbon PDK shifter
Adaptive cruise
Electric folding dimming mirrors
Interior light pack
2 zone climate
PDC with camera
Blind spot assist
Carbon illuminated threshold strips
Burmester wireless

Build is approx 4-5 months so a fair wait....:( but I think it’ll be worth it, the test drive was fantastic, I couldn’t believe how good the car was..!!

The 981 was good but it was a bit short on options but the two main problems were I’ve gone off manuals for some bizarre reason and the seats being the very base units were quite frankly awful, no side bolster support and far too narrow on the shoulders, the GTS seats are a world apart and with the 18 way you can get the seating spot on.

I’m a very lucky chap and cannot wait for the 718...plus I like the exhaust sound too so happy happy days..!! :D

Thanks for reading and here’s to fun times..!!

you did go for it a bit - most of us tick the bose box but not seen many 718's with burmester - well done

and adaptive cruise control

you ticked some big ticket items there

glad you liked it - the 2.5 turbo in the GTS spec is some kind of an engine and if you liked the sound as well that will be a win win for you

hope the months don't drag too badly

Some of the chaps coming to the Towcester meet tomorrow morning have lovely Cayman and Boxster GTS variants all with very different but fantastic looking interiors. Would have been a good chance to review them all before lock down

Thanks very much chaps.

With regard to lock down I’ve been speccing this for months before finally taking the plunge, there’s really nothing else I can add that I’d want except possibly PCCB but at another 5k+ that’s not going to happen, I’ve drawn a line......apparently....

I know how you feel , I ordered my Yellow 2019 gts with plenty of goodies. All gloss black window trim' wheels, sport design ,and rear spoiler, and door handles. Carbon fiber steering wheel ,PDK shifter ,door sill. Dash and console trim.Even carbon fiber floor mats with yellow stitching to match the gauges and sport chrono , and seat belts. I went with the CCB package. Bose audio, enter and drive, yellow keys and apple carplay. I avoided the nav. and fancy headlights. You will love it. The only part I don't like was the 105k price. Ha!!!

Hi Schredder,

How do you find the CCB’s..? They’re superb from what I’ve read although a little OTT for the road. Having said that it’s no reason not to, life’s too short etc, and no brake dust right..?

Hi John, good to see that you have sorted out your forum login problems.

Also good to see that you have sorted out your 718 GTS, welcome to the club!

I got mine at Porsche Nottingham also, good guys to deal with. Daryl was our sales guy, who looked after us well.

glad I bought mine pre loved as it stopped me adding and adding and ……

for road use the steel brakes are darned good

I would recommend the LED headlights as they are stunning

I have not heard the Burmester in a 718 - hope it is really good

carbon fibre floor mats - wow - I saw the price of those and thought maybe not lol

hope the waiting is not too bad for all new members

I wonder, can you get the dial faces white as an option? The dark faces in mine are hardly visible in the sun's glare...
Yes, if I had to do it again this is the only change I would make. Sun's glare and dusk make the gauges invisible. Hard to believe Porsche doesn't fix this but apparently it's part of the Porsche mystique to need to estimate revs, etc at certain times of the day.

Must agree with this complaint. Seems like it could be resolved by illuminating the instruments either optionally or always.
I totally agree. If Subaru could do it in my 10 year old, $30K Legacy, (and Honda/VW/Buick/... as well), Porsche should be able to do it in my much more $$$$, new 718. I've had long discussions here on this, as well as 1 way discussions with Porsche also. I haven't heard back from them yet though and presume that's part of the mystique of the brand. Apparently, BMW has the same issue so may be its limited to only high end German cars!
Sorry, feeling a touch sarcastic today!?

Fabulous options there, John-e89!

The next best part to owning the 718 is the anticipation before the arrival!

Even though mine was from the ready stock pool with a 1.5 mths wait, I found myself going through all possible scenarios of how I would use the car and the necessary add-ons I will need!

From phone holders to frunk liners to color of key fobs to the leather bag to hold my essential grooming kits to on-board etc. Many many but fun decisions ha!

Welcome and enjoy while it lasts! ?
