Hi all

I replaced an e92 m3 with a 718 BGTS about 6 months ago. Love the car - enjoy the nimbleness and balance and the torque of the motor (almost bought 987 5 years ago but was too slow). The only thing I don’t like is the very slight touch of turbo lag off standstill until revs pick up

in Aus second hand AMG GT S cas have depreciated a ton and are a similar price to my car. I like the sound of the power and the supposed “mid engined” (albiet front) balance.

has anybody driven both cars and car to share pros and cons of a switch?

thanks!

I think the AMG GT S is more comparable to an R8 or Nissan GTR than a 718.

Nevertheless front on the AMG GT S looks meanacing on the street with its muscular stance although side on it can look a little odd. It is a real GT car with performance, luxury and comfort to match and is well proven in the GT3 category in terms of performance.

However, like all Mercs it is a heavy weight and at around 300kg more it is just not going to be as nimble or as good in the sharp turns like your Boxter, although I'm sure it does well to hide its weight.

I think very different cars and a hard but tempting decision which really depends on what you're using the car for.

I would think your change over would also still be quite a bit more for equivalent kms and build year.

I think the AMG GT in Metallic Yellow is a very unique color that really pops. However, I raced a similarly colored anodized yellow Santa Cruz Blur from 2003 to 2005 that resulted in polar opposite reactions..."Absoutely love it!" or "OMG what in the Wide, Wide, World of Sports were you thinking!" Most of my competitors referred to it as The Urine Colored Bike....perhaps they just were pissed at getting smoked so often :sneaky:.

Regardless, Megallic Yellow would be my choice if shopping for an AMG GT, although Metallic Green is also quite sharp .
