Firstly, NEDC stands for the New European Driving Cycle. It's a cycle designed to assess the emission levels and fuel economy in car engines and passenger vehicles.

WhatCar? did a true MPG test on 20 vehicles, one being the Porsche 718 Cayman S and it actually returned with the result of being 18.7% lower than what the NEDC has it rated at.

Surprisingly enough, the Jaguar F-Type with the Supercharged V6 produced better numbers overall fuel efficiency wise. There were discrepancies of 14.3% but, nonetheless, better overall.

The Porsche 718 Cayman S is supposed to get a combined mileage of 23mpg whereas the F-Type should be getting a combined mileage of 18mpg.

Surprising ? To say the least, yes.

The Jaguar weighs just around 580lbs more than the 718, has 2 more cylinders, and packs just about 55hp and 65 lb-ft of torque more as well.

This is quite interesting.. But as I can imagine it not being my daily driver, I'm not too worried about fuel efficiency. It's really not that big of a deal to me.
