I am exploring the appropriate oil viscosity for my 718 and at my dealership they recommend 0W-40. Though, read several threads* that claim 0W-40 is not the best choice better would be 5W-50. Any thoughts from those that have a bit of car experience?

Just follow Porsche's recommendation in the manual. It all depends on the winter/summer temperatures.
My dealer uses 5/50 'cause it's HOT in the summer, and very mild in the winter.

That pretty much applies to central Texas.....I will see.
