He needs to read our forum....then he wouldn't be mistaken about the brakes being the same.
Good idea ;)
I believe he has a point about the brakes, in the comments he reply's to someone making the same remark, i.e. on the Porsche site the specs for the 718s and 718 are the same with the only difference being black or red calipers.

I guess he hangs around a GT3 forum somewhere.
Well Johan as our 'Swedish connection' get him over here since you know his hangout's :p:D

The base and S/GTS front brakes have the same disc diameter (which is all that Porsche lists, thus leading to continuing mistaken belief that "the only difference is color"). In fact the S/GTS rotor is thicker, and the 6-piston (up from 4) caliper is clearly visibly larger. Base 718 brakes are sourced from the 981 base; 718 S/GTS brakes are from the 991.2 Carrera.

From Suncoast site: (pads are sized to fit the calipers, not the rotors)

Set of Genuine Porsche brake pads. #SKU991G2FBPS

Comes with a complete set of brake pads for the front (left and right side). The latest version available.

Fits the following models:

- 718 Boxster S & GTS models - 2017 or newer

- 718 Cayman S & GTS models - 2017 or newer

- 911 Carrera, Carrera 4, & Carrera T models - 2017 or newer

All of this was covered here a while back.

Are you sure about that?

afaik the 718 S/GTS has the 4 piston caliper from the 991 base and the 718 base has the 981S calipers. But in any case - yes they are different.

I'm going by Suncoast replacement brake pads, which models are a common fit. Not certain about 6-pot caliper, there I'm going by the visual appearance and the Suncoast 6-pot upgrade fitting 981 and 991.1 but not the current 991.2 base Carrera.

But yes we agree -- front calipers and rotors are different 718 base to S/GTS and that's the main point, that the continuing 'it's only a different color' assertion (which keeps popping up like whack-a-mole) is simply wrong.

Just fyi @ZuffenHouseRules. I was curious and just looked it up in the configurator tech spec. The S/GTS front brakes are indeed 4 piston also. However - as shown in the picture you posted - base vs S/GTS the calipers are obviously carrying larger/beefier pads when compared to the base. The crucial difference base to S/GTS brake is the thicker disc (+6mm) which should/will make for much better performance on the track. Now who is explaining that to Janko on the youtube?
