Has anyone taken a close look at the tool box located in the Frunk on the right side?

Does your kit include the headlight removal tool?

Here's a photo of the tool.

Isn't there anyone willing to check their tool kit???
I would but I need it to show up first. Give me a couple more months.
I just looked....no tool like that in there
Thanks for checking. There's actually a slot for the tool, but I guess it's no longer included. I have seen a video demonstrating how it is
used to release a latch that holds the head light in place.

I'm interested because the Xpel paint protection installer will use it to remove the headlight when wrapping
the paint protection film inside the light opening.
I wouldn`t be surprised if some tech`s forget to include it since a tool kit like that is usually included during PDI`s if not right from the dealer. ON that note anyone who hasn`t taken delivery of a 718 as yet should double check. Better to check now than to find out when you most need it.

Good advice!!!
I was reading the 718 technical manual. The headlights are now screwed to the body frame. The front bumper must be removed to remove the headlights. Its shame, the old design with the tool was way better.

That's unfortunate. I can only imagine the cost for replacing a light bulb. :(

This is only the beginning, we're going to see more complexities happening that will only keep us going back to the dealer. However what does help is buying a product we have a lot of confidence in, that way our trips won't be nearly as frequent. I'm confident enough in Porsche.

The paint protection (Xpel) shop said that they have done many Caymans. The installer said that they remove the headlights so that they can wrap the film behind the headlight. He thought that the tool for removing the headlights was going to be in the included toolkit. That's why I started this thread.

Wait until I tell him that the bumper cover has to be removed to get the headlight out on 2017 Cayman/Boxster.

No way I going to let them remove the bumper cover on my car! :D

I am glad you bring this up. I'm getting Xpel put on my Boxster when it comes in April. I will have to ask the installer about this.

Bumping this old thread.

I'm trying to find the referenced technical service manual and having no luck in my search.
Any guidance on where to source this is appreciated.

In reference to the bumper removal;
I have since had the front bumper off.
I will be making a DIY post when I get a few free moments.

Regarding a technical service manual, I haven't found anything yet.

I'd be really interested in the DIY bumper removal.

How difficult was it to remove the front bumper? Approx how much time? I'm assuming no need to remove the headlights?

Is it similar to this reference for a 981 Front Bumper removal:

Or the 987?

Sorry I forgot about this...its similar to the 981 but there are a few differences.
I'll see if I can get the DIY posted tonight.

I'll be doing my headlights soon. I have the 35w lamps, ballasts and new cables for doing so. I just need the time to do it :) I'll post back with some pics during the process.

Great upgrade but just be aware you come in from the wheel wells. No need to remove the bumper for the HID 35W upgrade.
