Have any one who has an S thought about trading up to get the GTS? Anyone already done it?

I drove a GTS st Atlanta experience but that’s in a track not everyday driving.

Would love to her thoughts on this?

First of all, I'm an idiot, and I would just about give a kidney for the 15 hp.

Moreover, I ordered all the performance options on my S that are packaged in a GTS.

However, there were way, way too many cosmetic and interior aspects of the GTS that I strongly did not want. By the time I optioned my way around them, as best I could, I had configured a more expensive, de-contented GTS, which offered me nothing beyond my car, save for the 15 hp. Even the better re-sale of a GTS, under normal circumstances, had probably evaporated through my efforts to turn the GTS into my S.

And then there is the 10mm lower front end on the GTS. I didn't want to deal with that, either.

I've only driven a GTS very briefly (an hour or so) . Personally, I didn't feel the extra 15 bhp made any difference whatsoever, and that was jumping straight in one after the other. But of course, no two cars are the same and mine has/had done c. 8,000 miles whereas the GTS had only done 2,000 miles. I did think the GTS was a little more 'compliant' handling wise. But again my car has SPASM, whereas the GTS I drove was standard PASM. I really like the 'firm-ish' feel of mine. So in a nutshell, no from my point of view. (Which was a big relief because I was convinced the GTS would feel significantly better).

Well for me, I hated the interior of the GTS. Alcanterra wears out way to fast, and seeing the GTS only offered a bit more performance than a S at a much higher price, I could not justify getting it. If I really cared about straight line speed, a simple tune on the S will make it significantly faster than a stock GTS or even a 991.2 carerra. However, tuning the GTS will yield more or less the same power as the S, so there isn't much the GTS offers over the S.

I went from 718 BS to CS and now BGTS (all with SC), i felt the extra hp after 2 min on the on ramp.
Also low end torq is better on the GTS.

But we shall not forgett that no car is the other alike.
Ehresmann for instance have seen values on the S from 350 to 375hp......

My car doesn’t even have PASM and I think it handles great but recall the GTS being even more planted, again only on track not street.

I bought my S in 2017, just before the GTS was offered. I don't think that I would have bought a GTS if it had been available then, although I do like some of the GTS interior options, but the the price rises very quickly.

In any case I have also a steep driveway and the underside of my S just misses the driveway, don't think this would have been the case with the GTS

My biggest wonder is if I’d notice PASM and PTV which I would have optioned on a car. I purchased a launch car preconfigured and got a great deal on it but it has no PASM, PTV nor Sport Exhaust. I do have Sport Chrono.

My answer is Yes!
But is it a "Must have", Nope

They say that PASM has a better ride but i cant confirm that.
PTV has a Pivot feel to it when you turn in and its Amazing.
Historically the PTV tends to ware down if you track alot and there is better slip diffs out there.
Also your rear brakes wares faster then they normaly would.

On the Topic, i did not care much about the GTS since my CS had the same spec (minus 15hp)
But i did not have PDLS or better as on my BS and i missed to drive with the top down.
So when i got the chance on BGTS with the perfect spec there where no turning back.
If i had have better lights on my CS i still would have changed to a Boxster S as a minimum, maybe the GTS depending on spec.

I'm just not a fan of the GTS. It really doesn't offer much of what I'd want or add. I've optioned both the S and GTS the way I'd want and the GTS consistently specs out $10k more than the S. That means the GTS has $10k worth of stuff I don't really want. Why would I spend $10k more than an S for something don't want? I seriously doubt the GTS would hold more than $10k in added resale value to justify the expense. For me.

I think the more interesting question might be: do GTS owners envy the financial acumen of base 718 owners who kept the extra tens of thousands freed-up to invest in real estate, bond and mutual funds, IRA/401K, where they will reap large rewards over the long run while both cars depreciate to almost nothing.....

Point being, this forum is no place to gloat over one model versus another (or alternatively, the deal received). The best performing or deepest-discounted of these cars is still a non-performing asset allocation. Yet we all share a deeper insight into the gratification they can provide irrespective of badge, displacement,or options list. Hey, we're all turbo-four bozos on the bus of Porsche enthusiasts, let's have each other's backs.

Sage comments. Buying a sports car is irrational in some respects. I do envy the base Cayman guys with minimal options- my rational mind has thought that is a smarter way to go, a few times now.

I went the CGTS over the S so that I didn’t regret it later
There is no financial justification for any of these cars, they are a treat and a money pit
As long as whichever one you choose brings you pleasure you made the right choice

If I was just entering 718 ownership then no doubt about it, I'd definitely go for a GTS. However trading in against one is an entirely different proposition.

Apart from PTV & an extra 15HP, it doesn't have anything else fitted over & above my own vehicle that I'd be interested in. Obviously it's got a different body kit, but I can't say I have a preference for it. I like it, but I like my own vehicle equally as much. The Alcantara interior I'd get swopped out for leather anyway & other than that & no GTS badge I think I've got pretty much everything else. I already have a sports exhaust, Sports chrono, PASM, I even have the same wheels, though I prefer them in Platinum as mine are. I'd also need to spend a considerable amount on extras (around another £18,000) if I wanted to bring a new GTS up to the same spec as my own vehicle (which apart from the entry & drive I'd still want to). So it's of little interest to me & I'm more inclined to see what the next generation brings. I might even wait for the GTS launch next time. ;)
