Hi.
My 718S is due new tyres. I've got over 20k including 4 track events out off Pirellis so very happy with wear. However they suffer horribly from tyre scrubbing and low temp grip is not good when tyres are cold. I live in the south of UK so winter tyres are not really worth having. Im looking at £960 FOR 4 PIRELLIS. Goodyears are coming in at 30% less and Porsche rated.
Has anyone experience of driving on Goodyears or ideally both.
Its more about Scrubbing than the price.
Never be a cheapskate on Tyres!
Any views?

As stated above, Michelin PS4S is the tire of choice...had these on a previous car, wow. Good tread life, incredible handling in all conditions, fairly quiet. I am def going to replace my Goodyear OEM tires with the Michelin's soon.

The cold/wet weather scrubbing is due to the Ackermann steering geometry and the width of the tyres--so it will be there no matter what brand you drive.

The tests of sport tyres shows very little difference between the top brands (less than 5% IIRC). The Pirelli PZero sports were top in the last review I read. It was from Germany, I think. The website Tyre reviews, tests and ratings - Tyre Reviews has a great collection of reviews.

Mine came with Pirrelli tires, and I like their grip. When I look at the Tire Rack specs for them versus the Michelins, there is a big difference in the wear ratings not in Pirrelli favor. However, I don't hear too much here about the Michelins lasting so much longer. Am I imagining that to reinforce my own preference? I'm half way through my fronts at 6K miles.

I replaced PZeros for MPS4S in 19" guise. At the 20k service, I was advised that they are not Porsche approved (N-rated) however the PS4S in 20" is (fitted to GTS models as standard).
The Michelins are smoother than the Pirellis, and the Ackermann scrub is totally gone.

Different laws in different countries. Here in America they could only deny warranty if they can prove that your non-spec tires were the cause of whatever damage was in question.

Oddly, though, I noted that the CPO-provided towing service is specifically excluded if you install non-Porsche wheels!
