Just watched this excellent series on 24 Heures du Mans 2015, with extensive, high-quality on-board with the 919s. What a beast!

Something about those sounds is vaguely familiar. I realize most of the unfamiliar tone is coming from the electric drive; and there is also a separate turbine capturing exhaust energy to charge the battery. Still, somewhere in the mix is an un-muffled mid-mounted 2.0 quad-cam turbo-four with flatplane crank...
