Thanks for sharing, very funny, opps what does that button do?

Certainly a different sound, not really unexpected either, still the 718 GT4 sounds decent.

Over in England they already have an after market system available, not inexpensive but it does sound great:

As good as the 981 GT4 sounds, I am actually glad my 718 Boxster sounds the same, it would be too much attention for my taste from the exhaust note, the 718 flat-4 is somehow more civilized.
And as I also own a Tesla Model 3 I can actually also appreciate being able to accelerate hard without drawing too much attention.
Regarding the sound of the 718 GT4, I don't really see any reason to choose a 718 GT4 to get the flat-6 sound over the flat-4, it seems the difference between a 718 flat-4 and a 718 flat-6 is much less than the difference between the 718 flat-4 and a 981 flat-6.

To be honest, the 718 GT4 with GPF sounds bad. It does NOT sound better than the 2.5T to me. Especially if they've had to take out the burbles and whatnot.

That being said, we won't know for sure until the ones arrive in the US without GPF.

Just for a compare....
I was at a local (SoCal) C&C last weekend and a new 718 Boxster Spider drove in and parked. Young couple got out and got something out of the trunk. I only noticed it because of the different rear deck and top design and the small area for the license plate/bumper in the rear. The exhaust made very little sound. I don't think many at the show even realized it was the new Spider. No one came over to look at it.
When they left, it barely made a noise....

I wasn't aware that ANY 718 Spyder/GT4 had been delivered to the US, the only examples were press cars... can you be sure that it was a 718? Did you take any pictures?

Might have been a press car. Quite dirty as if it had been driven a ways. No pics. I just noticed it when they opened the rear trunk.
Ok, there have been a few press cars around, the Smoking Tire guy had one for a few days and a couple of the magazines have done some drives in California as well, the few pictures I have seen were a Spyder in Gentian Blue sporting only the rear plate out of Florida...

Can't wait to see that. I don't think he ever did an "unsupervised" One Take in a 718 before. Given that a Porsche rep was sitting in the seat next to him I don't think he could be ask blunt as he likes to be.
Actually he did a One Take on a 718 Boxster S quite awhile ago in Portugal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71dPKCqVegs

But I was thinking of the article he wrote about the Spyder: https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-ca...xster-spyder-road-trip-remembering-carl-ruiz/

Hmm. Strangely, the word “neutered” comes to mind.

I have listened to the sound of the new 718 GT4 over and over again in multiple internet videos. It is not possible to know what the flat six will actually sound like online.

What I have heard reminds me of the sound of my 2016 base Cayman 6MT. It was not as loud as the 981 Cayman S, but at 7,000 rpm it had that "hair raising wail."

I am looking forward to hearing and driving the new flat six. I expect it to be amazing and I am grateful to Porsche for offering it once again.
