Does anyone know if 20x11 295/30/20 wheels will fit the rear of a 718 Cayman? Is this a horrible idea? I just got a great deal on some 991S wheels and didnt realize they came in two different sizes.. Bonehead move. Thanks everyone.

Short answer: No, they will not fit.

Next phase: I've moved this to the Wheels and Tires subforum, which is where this should have been posted in the first place.

Finally, some advice: Research what will fit on a 981 Cayman/Boxster S; that will tell you what will fit on a base 718. Then, research what will fit on a 991.2 911 Carrera; that will tell you what will fit on a 718 S. There is not much wiggle room beyond that.

Thanks for the response Viffer. I really appreciate it. I also apologize for utilizing the wrong section.

Would you happen to know if it would fit if I were to add spacers? If so, is this a poor idea? Thanks again man

I'll let the folks who've 'upsized' wheels here answer that. Some have used spacers.

Do know, however, that offset is not your only concern. So is fender clearance, brake clearance, suspension clearance, suspension geometry (camber/caster/toe), etc. Unless you really know what you're doing, I and many others highly discourage even considering wheels other than what fits as OEM or what fits as designed for the particular car and/or for a particular purpose (i.e., track use.).

That makes sense. The exact size of the wheels im looking at are:

• Front: 20x8.5, 51 offset
• Rear: 20x11, 52 offset

does this help? its just so hard to find the 10x20 carrera wheels they put on the 718s.

I know someone on Renlist put GT4 wheels on their 981 spyder and they did fit.

The GT4 wheels are Front: 8.5 J x 20 ET 61, Rear: 11 J x 20 ET 50, so similar to your 991S wheels.

I'd like to fit GT4 wheels oneday so I'd be interested to hear how you go on your 718.

The standard 718 Carrera Sport wheels are front 8.5 J x 20 ET 57, Rear: 10.5 J x 20 ET 47.

You can use https://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Wheel-Offset-Calculator to check whether or not your other wheels will fit.

Comparing to the 718 Carrera Sport wheels your 991S wheels:

the rear will have 11mm less inner clearance, and extend an extra 1mm.

So these wheels on the rear might fit if you have the extra inner clearance and/or can use a 5 or 10mm spacer with out rubbing on the rear guard lip.

On the front they will have 6mm more inner clearance and extend by 6mm, which doesn't seem like too much.

So the front wheels might fit but might also rub on full lock or rub on the guard when going over bumps.

I'd measure the inner and outer clearance with your current wheels to get an idea. Keeping in mind its not only the rim clearance but you need to allow a bit of margin for the shoulder of the tire which will also be larger depending on what size you use, if it is a little stretched that would help.

Though as Mike mentions messing around with anything but OEM can start to cause a few headaches and if things rub it can damage your car.

It looks like the 718 Carrera Sport Wheels on the rears are 10x20 ET 45 (rather than 10.5) per the manual. I think the 981 Carrera Sport Wheels are 9.5x20 ET 45. So many darn versions of the Carrera wheels!

Nonetheless the consensus seems the NARROWBODY ET70's dont fly on the 718... :(
