So, I finally bought my first Porsche! It's nothing like the base Cayman I thought was the most I could afford or the "dream spec" Cayman S that took shape over endless nights in the configurator.
In the past 18 months i've had time to explore a few detours and came close to buying a 981 GT4 earlier this year, until the owner withdrew it from sale just as I was about to put in an offer. More recently i've been holding out for the long-awaited Cayman 6 and while that car may still happen, rumours seem to have subsided on that front since the announcement of the new GT4 and Spyder.
An opportunity came up to buy a near new manual 911 Carrera T that was first registered in November 2018 and done less than 750 miles. The idea of the Carrera T really appeals to me, it has the six cylinder twin turbo engine, Sports PASM, PTV, short shifter + shorter final drive and Sports Exhaust as standard well as some features only found on the GT/RS cars (lightweight glass, fabric door pulls etc); not to mention the unique styling cues. Only 10 T's were imported into NZ and only 4 or 5 were manual so the chances of me being able to find (or afford) a similar car in the future are practically nil. My dream Porsche is a GT3 Touring and this car is as close as I am ever likely to get to that, so I've gone for it and couldn't be happier!
I know this means i'm not a fully fledged member of the 718 club but i'm sure you won't mind me sharing and continuing to contribute.
As per most NZ Porsche's the car is effectively 'fully loaded' with only a few cost options added:
Carrara White Metallic
20" Carrera Sport Wheels in Titanium Grey
Leather Interior in Black/Guards Red with Sport-Tex Seat Centers i.c.w. Carrera T Interior Package
7-speed Manual Transmission
Sport Chrono Package with Porsche Track Precision App
Power Steering Plus
Bi-Xenon™ Headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System
Tinted Taillights
Lane Change Assist
Auto-Dimming & Heated Mirrors
Heated Multifunction Steering Wheel
Sport Seats Plus (4-way)
Seat Heating
Rear seats added
Luggage Net in Passenger Footwell
Voice Control
BOSE® Surround Sound System
Yes, that's me in the corner in the first pic...
