Recently, my wife and I had the pleasure to tour a local collector's private museum thanks to our local chapter of PCA. The collection features mostly antiques, but each vehicle is meticulously restored both inside and out. I spent about half the time there taking in this beauty, one of my favorite cars of all time, rescued from a ranch in Texas where the engine had once been taken out to power a water pump for irrigation. Before there was Porsche, there was Stutz - and his Bear Cat:

That, btw, is a 4-cylinder ?

My memory isn't what it used to be :rolleyes:.

The car was discovered on a ranch in Montana, not Texas. At least I had the continent right.

Here's a link to an article from when it was placed into auction in Philadelphia. As it didn't meet reserve, I suspect the present owner made a swap or similar deal to acquire it a short time afterwards.

The similarities between the genesis of the Bear Cat and the 356 are pretty cool.
