AG10 Airbag Recall

4491 Views 3 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Justin

Last time Porsche issued a recall for one of their two door Sports Car models was back in 2014 and their record for that segment has been clean ever since, until now.

A new recall has been issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for affected 2017 718 Boxster, 718 Cayman, and 911 vehicles.
That’s including the Carreras, Cabriolets, and Turbos. Sounds like a long list, but only 85 vehicles are affected and in need of servicing.

In affected vehicles, the seat mounted side airbag inflator may not ignite which means the airbag won’t deploy in case of a crash. This could lead to additional injuries in a crash and pretty much render the airbags useless.

To fix this problem, Porsche dealers will completely replace the air bag modules for free. Owners just need to bring their vehicles in once notified, but they haven’t released a notification schedule yet. Those concerned can try contacting Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243 and use the recall number AG10.

In case anyone is wondering, this has nothing to do with the Takata airbag debacle, Porsche actually sources their airbags from rival supplier Autoliv.

Thanks.
It seems that no recall has been communicated for Japan, checked with the dealership today. Are those 85 vehicles only in the US ?
There's another recall for the fuel collection pipe that can come loose and lead to a fuel leak.
