I live in a hot, sunny, dry climate. Anyone have experience with alcantara seats under these conditions? It seems people are love or hate with alcantara. Aside from the look and wear issues, how does it feel in a long drive in hot weather? I’m considering the GTS Alcantara interior package on a GTS. Thanks.

I don’t have any experience in hot countries so can’t comment on longevity. But having had both leather seats and alcantara...on a hot day I much prefer the alcantara. Leather seats can get ridiculously hot! Alcantara has much less fluctuations.

Agree with @718 having had two Porsches with Alcantara and one with leather.....Alcantara is a better choice for a warm climate like Texas (see link below) but from a maintenance/detailing point of view leather is easier to maintain. Now in the 3RS then the 2RS we have a simple rule no food! I also had my wife design and custom craft small thin fabric seat pads that match the seat color just to protect the Alcantara seats from sweat and dye transfer. In fact, for the red Alcantara on the 2RS we purchased red fabric and a wafer thin fabric cushion for the interior of the pad. We also pre-washed the red fabric prior to use to make sure it was color stable.

Here in Australia it gets hot and Alcantara is better than leather. Doesn't get as hot! Same with the alcantara steering wheel.

I'd also consider Sportex or ventilated seats.

+1 on the Sport-Tex seats, only you can't get them air-conditioned, just heated.

i really wanted the alcantara seats but alas, they are not available with ventilation and i wanted that more than alcantara. it gets mighty hot in the summer when you are out on the track for a 30 minute session and i wouldn't give up that little extra bit of cooling for anything!
