When I ordered my 718C I left off all of the performance options and suspension options. I even have the 18 inch wheels. Today I did a little canyon hunting and found a new road with some amazing twists and turns. In the base model the Car button takes you to a configurable page where you can see your max lateral acceleration. I hit 0.96 right and 0.95 left, and the ESC was on but never kicked in. The ability of this car to hold the road continues to astonish me, and it's limits are amazing. I don't regret not getting larger wheels, PASM or any of the other add-ons, but it makes me wonder what the limits would be like with those extras.

I totally agree :)
With my Boxster S (SC, Pasm 20") it was easy to pull 1.1 - 1.2G with out loosing grip or even hear the tires complaining.
I have SC, Ptv and S-pasm on my Cayman and cant wait until o get my summer tires on then its track time :)

haha its crazy isnt it?
coming home I come off of a 50 mph road to a 90 deg turn
I get off the gas about 100 yds before the turn and dont touch the brakes
no tire squeal no nothing just carves the corner hahaha

I have the pasm torque vectoring all of it
but I wonder how much an improvement too its probably pretty small
ive done the same thing with sport mode off and pasm off and it does the same thing ....
dont think you are missing much

That is seriously impressive for the base suspension on the most meager wheel and tire setup. It's great to see how well engineered even the base car and base suspension are and certainly gives some food for thought.

If I were to order it would probably have the PASM and the PTV but the 18" or 19" wheels.

IMHO, the 718C base suspension (and performance, for that matter) is more than most people will need for DD. I purchased the 19" wheels, but only for esthetic reasons, not necessarily for improved handling.

Mechanical grip and overall handling are among the very best this side of the mid-engine exotics (and only some of them match it).

But other-worldly handling, without adequate power to fully exploit it, would feel unsatisfying. Credit where due, the 9A2B4 turbo delivers on its end of the engine/platform package. V8 grunt with n/a responsiveness anywhere on the tachometer, with that same leaping-to-redline eagerness to rev of my flat-sixes.*

*eta: not sure it makes much of a difference in this context, but for the record my impressions based on the bored/over-square 2.5 with Variable Turbine Geometry and 6MT
