...for a simple rear emblem installation. I just got quoted 1.5 hours' labor to simply install the rear "718 Cayman S" emblems -- which I am providing. All it takes is 5 minutes with a template from Suncoast...stick the emblems on and you're done!

Yet this body shop -- "Superior Body Shop" in San Carlos, CA -- thinks it's OK to charge 1.5 hours labor x $150/hr to do a job that literally takes 5 minutes. OK, maybe 6 minutes if you count using some rubbing alcohol to remove the ceramic coating under where the emblems will go.

I also called three Bay Area Porsche dealers -- none of them have the emblem mounting template and simply directed me to call a Porsche body shop. Unbelievable.

A few months ago my 718CS (with only 5K miles on it) got a dent in its rear bumper while in a parking lot. I had a Porsche-approved collision shop do the repair work -- they had to replace the entire bumper due to some damage to the support bracket. Anyhow, I had the ceramic and PPF re-applied, and now I just need to install new emblems. Finally I've given up -- I've ordered the $159 template from Suncoast and will do the install myself.

The world has much, much bigger problems, to be sure. But this just amazes me....

When you are done with the template, maybe you can trade it for a future oil change at one of those dealerships. You'd come out ahead!

Everything about service / maintenance on these vehicles is pretty outrageous - just the cost of entry into this game. I think the maintenance prices are absolutely ridiculous - just did an oil change on my 718 Cayman. It's not the easiest oil change in the world but not technically all that difficult. Oil and filter cost about $50 - bought a scan tool to reset service reminder for $150. That cost will be amortized over time between the 718 and my Macan. On the other hand - I make about $75 per hour while working - am I worth that???????

Americans complaining about the gas prices :ROFLMAO:
I filled my new 992 today, with Shell V-Power 100 octane (RON) and it was around 5,60 USD per US gallon, now that's expensive... But also the norm in Denmark.

Okay, gas here is roughly $1-1.30 gallon regular and $1.89-2.25 Premium (93).

My sister tells me the other day she's glad they bought the Tesla a couple months ago, because it's really saving them money right now. I'm no mathematic genius, but the rate of return on a 60K electric car vs a 25K Toyota getting 35+ miles to the gallon doesn't seem all that great at the moment? Maintenance costs.... Well the Toyota dealer here gives you Free Lifetime Oil changes.

Still... I'm kicking around the Tesla idea myself. The problem is the one I've spec'd does not come in at 60K.
