Hi Team - I've done the research, searched the 718 forums, scoured the internet on "break in" done properly. But as a first time Porsche owner (CGTS) I have some open questions that I'm hoping to get advice on.
My CGTS is PDK.
Here's what I've gathered:
1. Going to follow the manual for 2k miles under 4k RPM
2. Going to avoid long drives (i.e., highway stretches) at the same RPM level
3. Never use cruise control
4. Going to ensure the car is adequately warmed up before any drive
5. Drives will be a minimum of 20 miles
6. I will elect to do an oil change immediately after 2k miles and before going over 4k RPM
7. I will attempt to vary the miles between all gears and at various RPM levels (up to 4k RPM)
Here are my open questions, many of them rookie in nature:
1. Should I primarily be using Manual Mode to utilize all gears? (for example, should I stay in 2nd at around 30mph/3k RPM, 3rd at 40mph, and rinse/repeat for all gears).
2. Should I use Sport mode during break in? What are the benefits/negatives?
3. Are city miles more beneficial as they also allow for more braking, turning, start/stop?
4. What should I be listening or looking for during the break in process? My understanding is that engine noise will change as it is broken in, so I'll be paying attention throughout.
