Hello All,

I purchased my car used and the previous owner had part of it vinyl wrapped. Is there any benefit to me waxing the vinyl to provide any extra protection?
My car's color is Carmine Red. I have always heard that red cars fade more than others (not sure how accurate that is).

Generally, waxing PPF or a wrap with a paste wax or liquid wax can lead to buildup on edges/seams...tough to get out or keep clean. With our PPF car, use Polish Angel Cosmic Spritz to maintain/enhance.

Not too familiar with a vinyl wrap though, installer likely has best info.

A little less expensive, but something to consider, is Chemical Guys WAC23016 HydroCharge Coating. It also is a light ceramic coating that is easily applied to a clean car. A number of folks with PPF coatings also have the car ceramic coated to protect the PPF (mine is only ceramic coated and that is expensive). An actual ceramic coating will provide a sacrificial layer but this spray may protect against many other hazards. You still have to towel dry the car if you use tap water to avoid water spots.

Hi for my Avery Dennison matte vinyl wrap I used their Sealant product and found it to be very effective. Read somewhere that regular car wax should never be applied on vinyls (particularly matte ones) as it will erode the vinyl properties. Best to use specialised products. All the best.
