Obviously this is just my personal opinion:

I would have definitely tinted the windows if I bought a Cayman.

With the Boxster, I like the look of having the windows down while the roof is down. But I prefer the (lack of) air flow through the cabin while the roof is down with the windows up.

So I purposely avoided tinting the windows to keep them looking as 'invisible' as possible while they are up and the roof is down.

Also there is no point to the tint if the roof is down 80% of the time ?

Also just my preference.

I have 35% tint on drivers, passenger, and rear window.

I really like the look of how it turned out.

I did not take a picture from the side, but here is a picture from the rear.

You can still see in the car.

Did anyone tint the glass? To what color and how does it look?

Mine is a Boxcster with Miami Blue color. Its a GTS so the lights and wheels are all black.

3M Crystalline 40 percent here. Absolutely perfect in all respects. Some images are in this thread: Viffermike's 'Doc Hollywood' blast to PEC Atlanta

Tinting windows is the absolute first thing I do to any new car. It's an outright necessity in this part of the country (Texas).

Had my side windows tinted at the dealership. Tinted windows in AZ is almost a necessity. I think the tinting makes the car look better.

There's supposedly these new nano-IR films that don't darken things but still block heat. I may do some combination of that. I do like being able to see out.

It's funny, you know how tints usually come with a "lifetime warranty"? I found the receipt for my tint job on my R32. 14 years ago. The tint is having some trouble and the shop is still around. I called and yes, they will honor the warranty. :)

G5 Tint Shop in Alhambra. They quoted me $850 for Cayman including windshield. Crystalline sheets. I personally used them before and they did a good job.

Southbay Tinting in Torrance. $870 for the same thing. I will use them in a few weeks, since they are closer to my house.

Both of them are 3M Premier Elite installers.
