Hi all - I have a crayon BGTS due to arrive early in the New Year. When I placed the order with the dealer, we discussed putting PPF on the front bonnet and rocker panels, but since then, I've read more about this whole protection game and am now confused about whether I should keep with that or do something different. I approached the dealer recently to ask if they could apply a ceramic treatment before PPFing the car, and he's come back with a suggestion to detail using Pomponazzi products (www.pomponazzi.nz). This seems to produce a super high gloss finish (almost a 'wet' look) on the car and is presented as a product that can also be used in other environments (e.g. for boats). I'm more interested in the protection angle than the look (and this product seems more about the latter since it's not designed to protect against stone chips and scratches etc). Has anybody else used the product and with what results?

I'm a bit leery of having stuff like this that the dealer offers. They often have a large markup on the basic retail price and have been known to exaggerate effectiveness.
From the website it looks like a fairly normal "ceramic"/"nano" coating, and they are great at high-gloss finish, oxidation protection, are hard enough to resist minor scratching and make washing a breeze. I've not heard of them being good at stone chip protection.
Why not give the company a ring and see if further real information is available?

p.s.--I have OptiCoat Pro+ on my Boxster and the Optimum coatings have been very successful for me on previous cars.
