I am looking at my Cayman purchase as a long term (10 years) car. As such I want to be certain I don't have any regrets in my purchase .

I certainly want to drive a base , S and a manual ( I have already driven a 981 PDK ) and a car with PASM . I also want to see some sport tek seats . I seem to be getting blown off by the local dealers here when I say I am looking for a pre-owned , not sure of the options I want and just want to try some out as they have them available. I do say upfront I am not looking to buy "today" since I at least need to see what the different cars and options have to offer.

I guess I should probably not be as honest up front 0:)

Anyone else have these issues ? Suggestions ?

I think you can be honest without necessarily volunteering so many details to the dealer (i.e. your purchase timing). I also recommend "test drive" not be your opening statement to the salesperson. Just say you are doing comparison shopping for a drivers car and that you are evaluating different trims and options. My dealer was awesome about test drives (much better than competitors with Corvettes and F-Types) and after the first 10 minutes they let me drive six or seven different models by myself over four or five visits. Good luck and do not make a purchase without extensive test drives on roads that will expose the differences.

I suggest not even contacting the dealer beforehand. Do your research online -- every Porsche dealer's web site lists its current inventory because Porsche N.A. requires it -- target specific cars that have what you're looking for, then simply show up to browse, find those target cars, and THEN ask for a test drive.

A dealer that says no at that point shouldn't get your business anyway. You're in the door. A dealer's number-one priority is making sure you walk out its door with something.

Good luck!
