So just bought a 2018 GTS CPO at Porsche dealership. Started to find small defects including door / trim offset, 2" shallow dents front top fender, clunk from releasing clutch (might be driver induced) etc. Took the car into the shop but they did absolutely nothing and said everything was normal. The dents are what I recently found.

At this point I told the sales person that I need to talk with his manager and will also contact Porsche, as he is flat out refusing to return the vehicle or even replace it with a different one.

I realize that I purchased a used vehicle, but I feel like a CPO $70K car should be in better condition. Am I overreacting? The dent can probably be fixed but there are several, so thinking probably at least $500.

Save for the clutch issue, which you indicate is 'driver induced,' everything else is aesthetic.

You did purchase a used vehicle, so I do not think it is reasonable to expect it to be 'new.'

In addition, had you analyzed the vehicle before purchase and recognized the aesthetic issues at hand, that would have been the time to either 'pass' or request fix. Since you did neither, I honestly do not think the dealer's response is unreasonable.

You asked, and that is my opinion on the matter.

I've seen very slight indentations about 2" and always two of them per fender in several 718's, including mine. All in the same area so I can only assume it's part of the fender manufacturing. There's no indication that there was an impact or issue, just two very slight (and I mean very slight) indentations. I don't think most would notice it.

Yup that's EXACTLY how I would describe it. Thanks, that makes me feel a bit better.

The "take ownership" side of me agrees with you. My ego is saying the other...

While I am now located in the UK, I was born and raised in Canada and have bought a few CPO vehicles. Assuming things haven't changed, doesn't Porsche have a check list showing to what level the quality of the car needs to be? My last CPO Audi called out all body work, interior had to be defect free etc. Perhaps do a bit of digging into those details and cite those as an argument that certain Porsche mandated items were not carried as a CPO.

The the Audi I bought as a CPO was delivered to me with some interior defects that my dealer said they would fix but didn't and said items were covered/called out within the check list. A quick call to Audi Customer Care and all was sorted.

Good luck!

Thank you I'll look into that.

Check your rear fenders, one on each of those centered over the tires as well. Takes a very critical eye to see any of these.
Checked rear fender and didn't notice anything. I also didn't notice anything on the passenger front fender. Just those two shallow 2-3" dips on drivers side.

First thing that comes to mind for me is that someone parked a cheek on the car.
It surprises me to no end that people do that.
More than once I've stopped guys from doing that at the track.

Regarding the front fenders, I have noticed the same on 981's, slight dents on both fenders, up top where you describe. I thought they might be body flex induced because I know that nothing touched the fenders up there, very interesting that the same phenomena is present on the 718's as well.

After reading this thread I am beginning to come around to the idea of manufacturing processes.

I have a very small ding on the top my front passenger fender. I thought it was a slight indentation from somebody jumping on the fender to take selfie. After my car wakes up from a Winter snooze, I'll have to take a closer look and see if there are other dents in the spots you folks mentioned. Fascinating.

are you looking at my car? Because I have the same issue on the font and rear fenders on my 2018 Boxster and same front two fender issue on the 2014 Cayman S I had. The added character shows up really well on black unfortunately.

No you are not crazy, well at least not about this! ?

Both of my 981's were dark blue, and IMHO the indents on the front fenders were quite visible, but I figured only to me because nobody else mentioned it...

Have them on mine too. They are barely perceptible, but saw them the day the car was delivered. I thought about taking this up with the dealer. A day later I was hard pressed to find them. I do see the drivers side indent when the conditions are right, but it's not anything I can't live with. I think it's a weld spot on the inside of the fender. Not very good quality control on Porsches part.
