Although my Boxster is giving me enjoyment no other car has ever provided, the issue with having to manually plug in my iPhone every time I get into the car really troubles me. It came to my attention today that Apple Car Play works in other manufacturer's cars via Bluetooth. So why then must us Porsche owners have to resort to such a pedestrian exercise as manually plugging it into a USB port? Just plugging it in to a USB connection does not, on the surface, sound like it really matters, but it does. I cannot practically reach around to put it in the compartment under the arm rest. I do use a longer USB-Lightning cable but now there is really no place to put the phone (if there is a passenger and there frequently is).
Today I happened to see an Apple article (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203412) that gives instructions for connecting via Bluetooth and I now remember being at a BMW dealer sometime within the past year and having Apple Car Play demonstrated to me on an X3 using my iPhone and a Bluetooth connection. So what gives with Porsche in already incredibly well designed high tech car?
