That piece basically adds absolutely nothing to what's already known. It doesn't even really have much opinion in it.

Why, Motor Trend, why?
Because it's click bait, that's why:

'Look! We have a SHOWDOWN between the 2020 Supra and its benchmark, the 718 Cayman!...
... Well, no, we didn't actually test the 2020 Supra, so we can't really say anything definitive about it -- or the 718 Cayman, really ...
... but look! It's a SHOOOOWDOWNNNN!.'

Motor Trend has been such a mess for most of this decade I don't even pay attention to it now.

I think the new supra looks OK . Not for me. My 2019 CGTS is still sitting at the dealership waiting for spring to pick it up. I have no regrets that I should have waited for the supra. In the end it's not a Porsche. it's actually a BMW. Nuff said

As a build on timlaw's note - the reason I am on my 5th Cayman is because it is the most integrated I have felt in any car in my >50 auto ownership over many, many years. I will test drive the new Z4/Supra variant for the heck of it but will be very surprised if I come away feeling that it is a worthy competitor for the reasons I continue to buy Caymans. My 08 CS was great and each successive ownership (Cayman R, 2014 981, 2016 981, 2019 718) has only demonstrated Porsche's knowledge of what real sports car owners want and how to improve and not ruin the formula.

I have already posted I strongly prefer the Cayman. But I am wondering what everyone thinks of the Supra active differential and do they have thoughts on why PTV is brake based. I am guessing it to keep weight down and for dependability.
