My Auto Start Stop always defaults back to ON (light off) when I start the car. Is this normal? I'm asking because my Macan did retain its last setting.

Also the 718 standard options list on the US configurator states:
• Auto Start Stop function (retains last selected setting after vehicle restart)

Which it definitely does not with my car?! Thoughts?

Yes--mine does the same thing. I also remember it stating that Auto Start Stop--retains last selected setting after vehicle restart)

It might be that I don't have the memory seats that retain settings? Not sure about that but I will have to check with my dealer. I usually push the Sport button and don't think about it.:D

I do have the memory seats. Saved the settings to the key as well. Nothing. I do not have comfort entry and drive though. Maybe that's the issue?

Let me know what your dealer says. I'll check with mine as well...

Update--just talked to the service guy at our dealer and he says that the Auto Start Stop can't be permanently turned off. He says that there is some aftermarket coding that can be done but that they can't do it at Porsche.

Nevermind that they specifically list it retaining its last setting on their website.

How many people use this function and if so do you notice a difference in mpg?

I find with a manual transmission it is pretty easy to override, just put the clutch in and the engine won't stop. Or I can turn it off. So I do use it sometimes, but only if I know I'm going to be at a light for a while. It would be really annoying to constantly have the engine turn off at every stop sign.

When I do use it it does help with mpg. It gives about a 5-7% increase.

Interesting. But I'm afraid I'd damage the leather trim. Maybe I'll ask my dealer to install it.
