Front 20x8.5 ET 45 with 235/35

Rear 20x11 ET 47 with 295/30
Your wheels are absolutely stunning!!! They have me considering non-black forged wheels.

Curious, did you consider 9”, 9.5” or 10” tires on front and why 8.5”?

What were your original front/rear tire sizes. How differently does it handle with 11’s on the rear vs the original size? Have you made, or plan, other handling changes from stock? Are you tracking, and if so, pre and post observations are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Thank you

I never do black wheels as you can't see them 75ft away, then they become round circles in pictures. Lets not forget they turn brown quickly from all the brake dust. Not fun spending $6k and not be able to see them

I never track the car so I didn't want to go wider than 8.5" in the front. Car is too small for 9 or 10" wheels up front unless you're tacking it all the time. I think if you're track the car a lot you should have a set of wheels & tires just for the track with Cup2's. A 10" at front would track on the highway side to side pending how bad the roads are, you would have to stay away from the truck lane for sure. Never had a problem with the 8.5"

Now the rear is a different story with 11" wide, it just plants itself the faster you go. The SPASM (20mm) suspension works great.

I was planning on going with 305/30 in the future because with my setup I was able to break the tires. Having 405 to 410 rear wheel hp is amazing.

Let me be clear, I have always said the 718 Boxster S is the underdog in this line up. I didn't need all the extra suede nor the extra 15hp for all the extra money a GTS cost (3rd radiator only good extra feature). For me it would be an S or jump to GT4

Stock wheel setup was 19" with 235/35 & 265/30

Now I have a 2018 Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet, this car is totally different from a Boxster. I'll be setting up this car to be much more aggressive

Here is a pic of the Boxster in low light, look how nice the wheels pop

Did you have any rubbing in the rear with the 295? I’d like to do the same setup but with 245 in front. Basically stock gt4 sizes.

295/30 did not rub at all but keep in mind the front 245/35 will have a bigger sidewall than the 295/30 on 11" wheel. It's best to keep the 235/35 so both sidewall look the same. You don't want a taller looking tire in the front

I just got my 2nd set of BC Forged Wheels for my 911

Lets just say I like to look different 😉

Not that I calculate, and the sidewall height is not affected by the wheel width all that much, a 245/35 tire is slightly shorter than a 295/30, of course the 235/35 is shorter still:

  • 235/35 has a 81mm sidewall
  • 245/35 has a 86mm sidewall
  • 295/30 has a 89mm sidewall

The sizes you posted are general numbers and don't include wheel width expansion, every tire company is different

I can only advise with what I had and can be clearly seen in person. The 245 on 8.5" would look taller than the 295 on 11" wheel

Here is a different angle

Again you don't want a taller looking tire in the front

The measurements are imperial, a wider wheel does not change the length of the sidewall, it can only change the orientation from perpendicular... If you do stretch the tire out on a wheel beyond the recommended wheel width the side wall may look shorter due to that deviation from perpendicular. Here are a couple of more extreme examples, the sidewall will appear shorter because the wheel width choice for the given tire.

Also pictured at almost the same perspective as your car is the 718 Spyder with OEM tires/wheels Rear: 295-30/20 on 11" and Front: 245-35/20 on 8.5" wheels.

Looks fine to me...

I don't need schooling on tires, I had a G37s slammed on the ground with air suspension & stretched tires

Again on my car the 245/35 would have looked taller on my car, you can see it clearly in the pics I posted that the 235/35 looks as even as possible.

Here's a pic of my G37
