Hey all, Ive been interested in getting a ducktail for my GT Silver 718bs, but am unsure how it’ll look in practice. I’ve seen a few pictures of ducktails on boxsters floating around here but would like to see more. If you have one, please share pictures! Do most just get the TWL Carbon one or have any paint matched the spoiler too.

So you guys are just buying the OEM Spyder spoiler and installing it without issue on your Boxsters? I may have to do this! Where are you buying them?
Yes, it comes primed, needs to be painted, and installed. It is attached with the original 6 torx screws that attached the OEM Boxster Spoiler. Takes about 5 mins or less to install.

Wow, IMHO this is how our Boxsters should have been created. I am rather inclined to add one myself.

Porsche places significant effort in getting the aerodynamics right, which makes me wonder whether the Spyder ducktail will cause any instability at 150+. That's the only unknown keeping me from ordering one at this very minute.

@shie and @mc3456...looking forward to hearing your experiential feed back.

Porsche places significant effort in getting the aerodynamics right, which makes me wonder whether the Spyder ducktail will cause any instability at 150+. That's the only unknown keeping me from ordering one at this very minute.

I ended up installing the larger Cayman front lip spoiler to sort of balance it off, but somebody else had their car at 125+ at track with no issues whatsoever…if that helps. I only drive at highway speeds, so should not be an issue for me.

Oh yeah, I'm definitely doing this. It was on my mind but this thread just convinced me.

Did you guys have Porsche paint match? How'd you go about that detail?
Paint appears to match perfectly, but hard to confirm 100% because the rest of the car has PPF on it and these new parts are not yet covered. I just picked them up from the body shop 4 hours ago and installed them right away, but it was already pretty dark when I backed the car outside for a closer look.

If you add the Spyder Duckbill, then consider pairing the Cayman GTS 4.0 front lip spoiler with it. It definitely adds a bit of extra aggression to the front end. BTW...please excuse the gold grill and missing air guides. The car is undergoing a "Neodyme delete" process. Just have to figure out how to remove the regular Neodyme grill. VERY challenging!

Are you talking miles? If so I don’t do 150 even at the track :) if it’s km then no issues for me. Plus I’d be surprised if this adds any real downforce but I’m just guessing. I haven’t felt any difference at speed

How much did the paint job cost? Did they have to blend it with the body panels?
No, they did not have to blend it with the surrounding panels. Both the rear spoiler and front lip cost $500. Not bad, but was hoping for less as the shop only charged me $75 to paint a new grill bar matte black. I installed both in about 10 minutes total.

Now...getting the original Neodyme Grill off will be a lot harder as the bumper probably has to come off. That one is a pain, but the rear spoiler and front lip are a piece of cake.
