718 Boxster

when i can see the list of songs playing, in the cluster (speedo area) i can roll the steering button to browse through the list but clicking on a song from the list does not play a song I highlight? is this normal? hence the steering's special button is used as "next track" but that's boring. i would like to scroll down or up the list, and click the roller button to play!

whether my iPhone is used as an iPod or via bluetooth, the click doesn't play any song selected.

i have to use the screen (pcm?).

the pcm doesn't tell me which song is playing when i have a playlist on the screen either. only when i choose media, the song playing takes up the whole screen. i have to then go to playlist to see the list and figure out which song is playing to see the next ones or previous ones if i want to change a track.

very clunky!!

for this reason (ease of playing and changing tracks) i am thinking to have CarPlay installed from Porsche which costs £950/-

would i be able to use steering button to scroll up n down and click to select a song then or would it be futile?

arrrrgh!!

pls advise. Many thanks.

I have the GT steering wheel, no buttons on the wheel. I can however, using the programmable stalk on the right side under the windshield wiper stalk, click down to the audio screen. It shows me all the info: artist, song, current folder. If I push back on the stalk, the songlist shows with the current song in the middle, previous tunes above and upcoming tunes listed below. I like it because if a song is playing I want to skip, I can one click access the audio screen, one click back access the songs, then scroll to my next choice and one click it to access. I guess other owners with the multi function steering wheel can chime in on the "rollerball" functions. I would assume you could program it to do something similar.

i did take this up with Porsche here in Cambridge. the response was that if the source is used as an iPod it should work but not when connected via Bluetooth. So in both cases, i guess it should work.

Another call/trip to the Centre.

thx guys for the replies.....
