I found someone in the Bay Area to do a clear bra install at a fair rate, so I'm on my calendar. Sounds like he prefers SunTek PPF.
My question is about keeping it clean. My new 2019BS is white and so any staining in the material will really show up. Happy for the protection from rocks, but am I getting myself into trouble by putting this on by risking stains from bugs & birds? What if the car only gets cleaned every week or two? Thanks for any advice.

My installer told me that they prefer SunTek because it is easier to apply than Expel. I think there was something about the SunTek being slightly cleare but I went with Expel since it was slightly thicker. What he didn't tell me but I wonder about is if there is more profit in a SunTek install due to film cost.

I had a Carrera White Cayman R for two years with XPEL film on it. You had to look closely to even realize it was there. It was in Birmingham Ala so certainly got a lot of sun. I kept it waxed with Nano wax to keep it supple (never use carnauba, that will cause yellowing if I remember correctly),.

It shouldn't stain any more than paint. Leaving bird droppings on for a week or two will hurt the film just as it would hurt paint just as it would hurt ceramic coatings. You don't have to clean your car every day but you should try and clean major contaminants like bird droppings more often.

The twice yearly 'hordes' of love bugs in southern Florida do a great job of depositing on cars. All our cars have faired quite well with clear protectant when cleaned within a day +/- of the deposits.

Forgot about those love bugs, when I lived in Daytona I remember cars pulling into gas stations off the interstate coming from Orlando with the entire front of the car black with love bugs like a coat of road tar, with steam blowing out of the radiators.

I had a Carrara White Cayman S with PPF and found some staining to be inevitable, especially with some track use (hot tar and rubber deposits) or overzealous application of tire dressing that casts off. Both can leave a yellowed stain, but to some extent I noticed that at least some of these faded away over time. All that said, I have a white CGTS on order and my current plan is to go with PPF again, thinking the benefits still outweigh this minor factor.

I've been a fan of expel had it on two cars now. I don't know if other have self healing or not but expel is better than 3M. My CGTS had a half hood and bumper in 3M when I bought it a had to many scratches and impact marks in it for me,so I had it removed and put expel on full hood, bumper, and finders. I wish I would have had exoshield on windshield but I'll need to wait. Maybe if it ever needs to be replaced I'll look at exoshield. I've never had issues with windshield chipping until I moved to Texas almost ten years ago.
