A very minor thing, but I'm used to other cars being able to open/close windows from the key by holding down the lock or unlock button.
I cant tell you the number of times I get out of the car with windows down & then have to go back, turn key to position 1 and close them.
Am I missing something or is this just the Porsche way. (my car is entry & drive)

Old habits die hard :(

One of the features I liked about our Z4s. From what I can tell, I "think" this feature is offered in Europe, but not here, like holding the lock or unlock button to raise or lower the top, they can do it, we can't

I can’t figure it out either. If it does it.

Are you sure nothing in settings. Don't see any reason for this function to be disabled in US.
I've been all through the settings and havent found anything.

Its very common for N.Amer. cars to have more personal "safety" functions implemented.
I suspect its due to a more litigious society over here.

My 2004 350Z has this feature. Not sure why a car that's 15 years newer can't do this out of the showroom. I ordered the Smart Top module. Shouldn't have had to do that for features the car has the ability to do by design in another region. I do not believe there are any DoT laws that would not allow this feature as well as the roof opening and closing remotely. Very odd.

Yeah, we get to open and close the roof remotely too. It won't be something extra added on. Just something disconnected for you guys in case you trap a baby in it.

Probably this. Remotely closing a window could trap a child's neck if someone's not paying attention or if kids playing with remote. Similar issue a few years ago to window switches opening vs closing when pressed down. I only lower the windows when getting the entry ticket or paying in a parking garage; otherwise they stay up. So it's not been an issue for me.

Does seem pretty crazy and all windows have safety features if there is anything blocking they automatically roll back down. I know my Mercedes has the feature and it is a German car. And I was always curious why Mercedes was not able to remote start the vehicle with the key fob and only the phone app. From all the forms I read the reason was because Germany as much stricter standards for being able to remote starte vehicles than the US does. I mean every Japanese car here has both features so I can’t see it being a limitation of the US laws makes no sense. If that was the reason it wouldn’t apply only to Porsche.
