Could there a Hardtop?

I see the potential for a hardtop 718 in the future. If you remember the Boxster came out first and then YEARS later the Cayman came out as the hard top version. Hopefully the turn around is much quicker this time around ;)

I would love to have this as a hardtop convertible.
Do you mean a hardtop that is still a convertible, or just a hardtop with the convertible roof? I would mind either.

I also think this would look good as a targa top.
No I mean a hardtop, like a hardtop that doesn't come off....

Yea, convertibles are great, but you can only use them so many days of the year, especially in Canada. I think that the non-convertibles look better generally, so it would be a hard choice from me. The fun of having a convertible roof for the hot days in the summer, or a car that makes more sense all year round and looks better IMO?

That's what you call a Coupe.

considering the 718 is already a convertible coupe, hardtop is used as the distinguisher. But lets not be pedantic eh ;)
I feel that the word "coupe" has become a pretty malleable term at this point. Do you think there is a chance of a hardtop for the convertible, or will it be definitely soft top?

The problem with that is it's not in line with the industries naming structure and what those designations mean. Just go look at Porsche's website (or any car maker) and see if they list "Convertible Coupe" or "Cabriolet Coupe" or "Hardtop Coupe" anywhere. As well as the official definitions.

if you insist.....

speaking of official definitions, I believe this is the official definition of petulant pedantry
Lots of semantics here.

I would guess that the soft top will come out first, and then a year or 6 months later they will come out with a hardtop coupe version that will likely be more expensive than the soft top convertible.
