Picked up my Boxster GTS last weekend a pre-spec`ed and per-registered car, the car doesn`t have power steering plus and also doesn`t have PASM - 20mm. So my question is to the people who have these options on their car how do you find them?

Think i could live without the PASM - 20mm as the car rides rather firm on the standard PASM -10mm, when in sports + mode especially on UK roads  :poop: . I`m thinking of getting the power steering plus fitted at my local Porsche Dealership at some point in the future but would welcome some feedback with regards to this from your good self's.

Any comments would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

Robbie.

Someone can correct me if wrong, but I think the power steering is a software addition. Personally, I have the base Cayman without it and I don't have any need for it. However, it may be one of those things that someone has it and now can't live without it. Hopefully, they will chime in soon.

I just bought my 718 Cayman S (20" wheels) and debated whether I needed PSP. After owning the car for 6 weeks (I live in Downtown San Francisco), I can honestly say there is no need for PSP. The steering feel is firm and well-weighted. At parking lot speeds I can easily parallel park with one hand. PSP will allow you to do this with a finger. If that's important, then get the PSP.

Someone posted a video of their 2-year old sitting on their lap and easilly steering their car with no PSP.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I would think your Boxster GTS comes with PASM -10mm (and has the shock absorber button) but didn't come with optional SPASM -20mm. For your use I would think that would be just about right (I have SPASM on my 911 GTS and PASM on my 718 base Boxster, the later much more forgiving on bumpy roads in any setting, though in part due to 18" vs 20" summer rubber).

I vote no for PSP. It’s not necessary. It’s not like an old American made sled with no power steering that took mule strength to steer at slow speeds. Not necessary at all

I don't have PSP on my CS but it came standard on my Macan GTS. It does make the Macan easier to maneuver in a parking garage for a vehicle of its size but I have no issues without it on the CS. Steering effort maneuvering into a parking spot is a bit more but it's a small car with a relatively short wheel base so it's no big deal to me. At higher speeds, I like the absence of PSP as the slightly heavier steering is more to my liking.

I had Power Steering Plus on my 2018/718 CS and it was fine but your question brought to mind that I have had a .2 3RS and now the .2 2RS where PSP it is not even an option and I haven’t missed it. In fact, both GT cars were/are pretty easy to steer without it. Bottom line, if I have the option to purchase PSP in the future I will pass.

I don't have the power steering plus and after 2 years haven't wished for it. YMMV

I agree with these guys and anyone else I missed :) I don't have it and don't feel the steering needs it at lower speeds. YMMV

I have PSP and someting what no one mentions is the following: At high speeds, the steering firms up and responds with greater precision, I found it usefull on the autobahn and on track.
Well I'll be d'd, I didn't know that! From Suncoast website:

"Power Steering Plus Software $300
Standard Power steering Plus is a speed sensitive power steering system. At high speeds, the steering firms up and responds with greater precision, while steering comfort remains outstanding. At low speeds, the steering ratio adjusts for easy maneuvering and parking.
This upgrade requires programming and activation at your local Porsche dealership. No hardware or products are included, this is a software license. We submit your VIN number to Porsche, then your local dealer can upload the information to your Porsche.
Professional installation required by an authorized Porsche dealer. Make sure your VIN number is 100% accurate (if it's wrong, you've wasted your money). This kit is not returnable under any circumstance."
