Yeah, almost everything is an extra cost option in Europe, but I would think it is an easy retrofit.
I actually thought I saw it once on the Tequipment page, but cannot seem to find it there anymore.

Thanks for your answers. Unfortunately, in Europe everything comes as an extra option, even things such as Cruise Control, Parking sensors, Climate Control, Rain sensor, Leather seats (standard ones are faux leather + Alcantara:oops:)... things that nowadays are standard on every single car, even the cheapest ones.

I’m picking mine up next week and negotiated retrofit as part of sale, so yes, it is possible. Should have cost £500. Looks a great step up from the cruise Control I had on my 981 as it has the radar detection which will automatically adjust your speed to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front.

I piurchased a dealer showroom car that I can’t believe wasn’t specced with cruise (or in fact standard) had it retrofitted last week. Works a charm if a member of PCGB also got a discount so £440 fitted.

Word of warning apparently the coding goes smoonthly, other times it gives a problem, mine was the later took them apprpx 4 hrs to fit and sort the coding issues.

Hi, can you tell me what OPC center fitted yours as I’ve had a quote of £618 to do my car, thanks

The Porsche Equipment page says from £570 including the VAT.

If you tell your OPC your part of PCGB you should get at least 10% discount. If your local OPC wont do it any cheaper then try another.

I’m assuming that price is for the basic cruise control right? Not the radar controlled version that slows down automatically when the car in front slows? I don’t have Any form of cruise control on my Cayman (I don’t do enough long distance driving living on a small island), but if it’s only that price I would consider adding it (from memory it was a lot more expensive than that on the configurator for the full version).

Don’t they have to replace or add a stalk to the driver control if you have no form of cruise control already on your car?

That price will be for standard cruise.

I dont think that ACC can be retro fitted and if it can it will be seriously expensive. You'd need the radar in the front bumper plus the associated electronics. Its also only available on PDK cars.

Not cheap.

Thanks, makes sense.

What is the standard cruise control like?Do the controls work intuitively within its limitations?

I would think that the standard Cruise Control for Porsche is the same as we have in North America, very easy to use and controlled by a stalk on the steering column. One push of a button at the end of the stock to turn it on and push forward to enable and the speed you are currently traveling is set and maintained unless you touch the brakes or depress the clutch on a MT car or pull back on the stalk. Push the lever up to increase speed by 1km/hr, press down the stalk to decrease the speed by 1km/hour, finally push the button once again to turn off cruise control.

Sorry if this is not 100% right as I am still waiting for my 718 to arrive, currently without a car since last summer.

Still amazes me that standard cruise control is an extra cost option over there as it comes standard here.

Thanks, that makes sense. Totally agree that it’s weird that here in Europe Porsche gives very little away for free... oh I forgot, there is the crappy little footwell net and even that I optioned out as I don’t like the asthetic 😉

Yes, Porsche options are surely their bread-and-butter the world over, many $$$ spent by enthusiast on things that other manufactures include as standard on much lesser models but still if you ever get the chance to build one it hooks you in and siphons more money out of your pocket then you ever imagined!

Yes, here in Canada we get to choose the luggage net and smokers package for free, and also free but in the other direction you can delete the model designation for $0

Standard cruise control works well and the actuation and adjustments are intuitive. That said, the stalk movements (actuation and adjustments) are made in different directions than our SL450...old dog new tricks issue - drives me nuts - maybe one day I'll remember which is which.

The only real beef I have is with the placement of the cruise control stalk. Occasionally, I briefly need to hold the wheel with my left knee (e.g. change glasses from regular to sun, blow the old schnozolla, open an energy bar, etc....no, I never text and drive). Unfortunately, the stalk interferes with my knee and makes this activity a real challenge. Straight lines are doable at best; however, it's almost impossible to tweak the wheel for minute corrections or adjust for even the slightest bend. I know, third world problems.
