Would this mean that if you had a bump, enough for the airbags to go off, BANG
you would have to get a complete new dash if you had the standard one but with the leather maybe only
a new lid?
yes - the instrument panel would be replaced for either version - as the scribed cover breaks away with the bag deployment. The leather interior has a layer of leather glued over the (base) dash material

the steering wheel airbag cover is another part that is replaced as its designed to split open for air bag deployment as well

there's also the side curtain and seat airbags as well - so in the event of a side impact (there's sensors in body to detect this) or a roll over - the seat back airbags or side curtain would deploy.

that would require replacing the headliner is its a "sacrificial" part when air bag deploymentt

I have an interesting dilemma i need some help with. Took my Cayman in for a service which was carried out excellently and the service was top notch

However it came back with a strange indentation in the dashboard on the passenger side, pictures below

I rang the OPC and to their credit they said bring it in and we will get our specialist to sort it for you.

Turns out they aren’t happy with the fix as the mark is still visible and they have offered to fit a new dashboard. Well credit to them BUT they need the car for 4 days and i’m concerned about the level of intrusive work done on my Cayman. What if it’s damaged or rattles and creaks as a result.

Interested in opinions before i commit to the fix

Thanks i’m advance

Mmm . . Leave as is. The cure maybe worse? I have the same dilema with a body panel which I can't " un -see" Annoying but livable with.
