My CGTS is here!! My CGTS is here!!

But they won't let me have it yet :(

Meanwhile though, I happened to notice that a couple things didn't seem quite right. Upon further inspection, it looks like one of our earlier build codes is what got ordered, despite me sending my SA an updated one, saying it was final, and he acknowledged it.

On the bright side, none of the truly major things got missed, and what is there is fixable. At a price.

The minor thing is at one point we optioned the Porsche crest to be embossed on the headrests and also the armrests. We chose to remove the armrest, but keep it on the headrests. Figured having both would be "too much." Well, it arrived with both. They have offered to order a plain armrest cover and change it out if we'd like (they're not going to charge us for it, either way).

More tragically*, despite being a bit of an audio snob, and having eventual plans to do an aftermarket upgrade anyway, I opted for Bose as I found it to be "good enough," at least for a while, until I saved up some more money to put into an aftermarket system. The Sound System Plus, on the other hand, I found to be unacceptable to my ears. Yes, even for a sports car.

My SA fully admitted fault, said it's the first time this has ever happened to him, and I believe him when he says he's sorry. Being the optimist that he is, he asked if we could turn this into an opportunity. A way to get on my way toward my eventual system sooner rather than later.

Obviously, the sales manager also got involved, gave me an initial offer that I knew wasn't going to come remotely close to what it would take. I had to educate them on the detailed differences between the SPP and Bose systems, and worked with a car audio shop to get an estimate on how much it would cost to duplicate the features found in the Bose system.

I'm pleased to say though that after some back and forth, the dealership came through, and has made me happy. And I'll get to do my audio upgrade sooner rather than later! :D

Now if I could only actually have the car...

Hopefully they address the safety issue quickly. And even better that you and they came to an agreement on the audio situation. That could have been a big pisser. Any estimates on when you can get the car? On the plus side the weather and roads aren't going to be the most conducive for Cayman driving for a few days. I took advantage of today's weather to put the top down on my Boxster and got in a short drive before things turn.

Very nice. It was quite windy today though!

No estimates on when the US will get the fuel tank bracket fix. Seems like Australia and New Zealand have it now though, so it should be any day now

IMO you got the best with the audio upgrade. Upgrading the Bose system can be difficult.
I had done my research, and had experience with the "standard" audio in my Audi RS3, which I believe to be extremely similar to the Porsche SPP. Based on that experience, even the base systems now require MOST-150 adapters due to variable processing applied to the analog signals (meaning it's not a clean signal to feed into an aftermarket DSP)

It might help your ears if you turn of the "Bose dsp" and choose "Linear tone curve", it might not be the correct words but you will find it under audio options.
Also give the speakers a chance to break in

The winds weren't too bad down here on the south end. And mid 60s was nice! Hopefully that part arrives very soon. Before we know it the first thunderstorms will be washing away the salt and gravel.

Yes, that's what I would've done. And I probably would've disconnected the center speaker. Alas, I don't have that option now that the car wound up with SPP :p

For perspective, I am NOT an audiophile but on trips I do like my tunes, as much to keep me involved and awake as anything else. My Cayman is a toy and with usually a good day weekly here, I've managed to get more than a 1,000 miles on it since it was delivered Jan. 21. That said, along with having disconnected the Soundaktor, I have yet to listen to music in my sporty car yet. I just enjoy the engine, exhaust, and mechanical sounds way too much! Also, to tell the truth, I've had small sports cars before but not a "high performance" sports car, so I don't need any distractions, pleasant or otherwise, getting in the way of learning how to get the most out of this car. So to you, someone who is an audiophile, I'm simply suggesting that you spend SOME time without any other sounds but your Cayman's. This may sound crazy, but your ears are obviously highly tuned to distinct sounds, and I think you may hear a symphony -- even if played by an insane orchestra.

"insane orchestra" LOL, That's great

When I get to the fun twisty bits, I typically do turn down the tunes. And on track, it's turned completely off. But getting there is a different story. Long, straight, boring roads. Or worse yet, traffic. That's when I like to jam out! :D

I also have a botched order story.

My dealership ordered the wrong options on my '15 Cayman GTS. The missed options were relatively minor: the model delete wasn't done (I wanted only "PORSCHE" on the back, not the script "Cayman GTS", I don't like mixed fonts) and the smoking package wasn't added (I didn't want the open mini cubby). Also they didn't get me the clear side LEDs as was agreed. The underlying cause of the mishap was the unexpected demise of the SA handling the deal, so not like I was going to make a fuss. The new SA said he was going to make up for it by ordering the clear sides, and getting me a front plate tow hook mount, but after a couple of weeks of not seeing any action I ordered both online, and had the cost deducted from the portion of the payment I had used a credit card for (deposit wasn't charged until car delivery). It all worked out, I've used the dealer since.

There is a current stop sale on the GTS along with GT4 and a few other models.
