Is there anything special about the Porsche collection process? Being new to the brand, I'm not sure what to expect at delivery and don't want to be surprised, but want to be as prepared as I can be. I'm sure this probably varies by dealer and whether you have purchase a Porsche previously, but I would like a general idea of what to expect. With that in mind, other than the normal "check the car out" process, is there anything that I should expect, demand, want, or avoid? For instance, is there a "checklist" that will be provided of all per-delivery inspections done? I've gathered from this forum that the "up sells" should be avoided, some get goodies like clear marker lights (U.S.) thrown in, alignments verified, etc... Any insight would be much appreciated. The time is approaching :)

That time for me is next week. My questions: how they deal with mods like shortshifter, exhaust, etc.
Manual present in the car? An alignement before delivery. Activation of Porsche connect. And what they think of the break in procedure. Also not to wash/polish the car before delivery, will be doing that myself. ;)

Alignment for sure. It seems many are off. Mine was pretty far off on the right rear toe. And make sure they activate porsche car connect for you or else you will have to go back to the dealer for them to activate it as i will have to do.

Ask your SA to configure the Bluetooth link to your cell. If you get home delivery of the car like I did, ask him to program the garage-door opener link. If trading in your previous Porsche, make sure to get all personal stuff out of all storage cubbies.

In addition to not having them wash and wax the exterior of the car tell them not to put any of that tire shine on. Every time they do they use too much and it slings all over the car. I do tire shine on my cars with chemical guys VRP and never have a problem with sling. I also prefer they do not clean the interior since they tend to spray chemical cleaners all over the place and it lands on all the surfaces. I would take the car home and clean it yourself.
When I bought the 718 I received a 4% discount which was not great but more than the dealership wanted to give me so they did not throw in any accessories. If you could get a set of clear side markers or a car cover that would be great.
Are you doing a PPF or ceramic coating or both?

Thanks for the advice on the interior/tire dressing, I will put on a light ceramic coating (tacsystem moonlight) that is easy to remove (without wetsanding) when the car gets a P1 coating this summer. Will try to negociate some goodies, but had the max discount of 5% by (Belgian)dealership standards, so extras will be hard to get.

It's not much in the grand scheme if things, but my SA gave me a Porsche hat, poster, and let my 7 year old son pick out a Hot Wheels Porsche. He gave me a pretty thorough overview of the PCM software and showed me how to access the tool kit and inflater. No mention of what was done to prep the car, but I had stopped by a few days previously when it was delivered to check it out while still wrapped up.

It was also a very low key experience in the F&I office. No pressure to buy any additional assurance products and I got thanked for not buying a black, silver, or white car. Generally, it was like buying any other car, just with a bit more class.

My wife stole the hat....

Mine tried to give me a jacket and cap when I bought the Cayenne but I gave them back as I would never wear them. They ended up giving me a boot liner instead which I was happy with.
With the 718 I told them when negotiating the deal I wanted a car cover included and not interested in the other stuff.

Is this for real? I have trouble imagining that a brand new Porsche requires an alignment? What % of vehicles would this effect? Any idea why alignment would be off?

I received a very nice discount on my 2018 Cayman and a decent trade-in on my 981 so I was not expecting any "freebies" thrown in upon delivery. The SA set up iPhone pairings for me and my spouse, went over the operations and various functions in extreme detail, and set up Porsche Connect. While he was doing that, the Sales Manager explained various qualities of the car to my spouse, introduced her to the Service Manager (whom I already knew from bringing my 981 there for service), and otherwise kept her company standing outside the car. They then asked for a photo of all four of us for their collection which I thought was nice.

Has anyone received a package in the mail. I got a thin box with a hard cover book , and a small soft type booklet. In it . There was also a 718 pen that kind of looked like fake carbon fiber on it. It isn't much but I liked it

pretty nice experience at my delivery 6 months ago - heck that flew by

no rush and key functions explained very well

car under a cover with a sign welcoming me to my new CGTS followed by ceremonial unveiling - cheesy but fun

car was presented beautifully

flashy presentation of the spare key in a large heavy box with a framed photo they took of me collecting the car

nice touch was 2 bottles of very decent wine - sancerre and Barolo

all in all a very pleasurable way to spend a decent sum of money
